Well, I for one am proud of the Rant for handling a topic like gay rights with such thoughtfulness and repose. Not that I expected anything different.

God, I hate the rant. Three pages of comments before someone points out that IF YOU READ THE DAMN STORY it's obvious that his disinterest was part of depression. The whole damn story was about his depression and drug addiction. He wasn't being lazy. He wasn't tired of football. And he's not saying "dumb" things right now that will hurt his career. The whole point of the story is
Oh, F-it. ESPN hates LSU.
I will ______ my own _______ .
Oh - and we won that game, the next day. Broke Bama's win streak. I think they were defending national champs. Eddie Kennison.
1993, buddies and I drove to Tuscaloosa for the game. We were broke broke - the kind of broke you can only be as a college freshman. Heard that some other folks we knew were going to the Ivory Tusk. We're 18-year-old know-nothings, show up just because. Just as we get situated, the band starts. And the first thing they do is play the fight song. Our fight song. The crowd went nuts. It was Better Than Ezra. I also almost lit a chick's eyebrows on fire that night, trying to light her cigarette. Good times.
[link=(The International Federation of American Football.)]https://www.ifaf.info/articles/view/724[/link] It's a league in Austria. Or somewhere in Europe. Cody Hawkins is the QB.

Lou Tepper will bring shame on our country.

Jake Locker is to Tim Tebow as J. Lee is to Sam Bradford.

Jake Locker is a great QB on a really bad team. If Washington improves any from last year to next, it could be an interesting opening game.
I'm not going to compare him to a Heisman trophy winner who happens to be one of the freakish QBs of all time - that's not really fair. But Locker is a great combination of run/throw. If you don't think so, you just haven't watched him.

+1...I guess thats why I don't get into all the Hawthorne bashing, because there was a time when he was the only link to what was going on, it's not like we were on TV week in and week out and when we were, it was because the opponent was really good and we usually got slaughtered....Man how things change

You know, it's always bugged me that people pick on Hawthorne and now I know why - because I was always damn happy to hear his voice. His voice meant I got to at least hear the game - because I damn well wasn't going to be able to watch it.

I was at the Colorado State loss. It was on Senior Day, where LSU invited promising high school seniors to campus, then go to the game - yeah, that's how big demand was for tickets that year, they just let us all go to the game. And then LSU lost. To the Rams.

Good times.

One could make the argument that losing to Duke, rather than beating a cream puff shows some amount of effort and risk-taking (to play a tougher schedule) that should perhaps be rewarded.
By the way, always enjoy your math posts.

Nice to see Clarence and I have aged about the same. Built for comfort, not for speed.
It's disrespectful, of course. That was the point. I do not agree with the man. But this is America. It's the one place on the globe where you can make a "statement" like that and SHOULD be afforded at least a minimum level of understanding. You want to think he's an arse, fine. But at least he has an opinion - there have been plenty of LSU athletes to make their way through the system that haven't "grown" as a person at all.
Thanks Wiki,
What should be more important on this forum is that CJ, AbdulRauf had a wicked crossover, unlimited range and was the most exciting LSU player since the Pistol.
Since if had disrespected his country in Iran or Syria he would have had his hand chopped off means that he should stand up in the U.S. for the national anthem? That statement completely ignores the entire point of our Constitution.
People died to protect these rights. That it pisses you off is not relevant - it's all the more reason to protect his right to "take a stand." Again, he's strange. In this country, that's not supposed to be a strike against you.

The U.S. does not give anyone their freedom of religion - it's an inalienable human right endowed by our creator - the U.S. merely recognizes this.
But sure, I understand. He's an arse. To be an arse is part of our freedom too. It's the beauty of our country.
Sorry, I'm a little patriotic today.

Bottom line - remember what Trent Johnson has done to impress you this season, because we simply won't have the talent on the floor next season.
And, ignore rantards. That's good life advice in general.

Remember these days next year...

Like all of you, I'm enjoying the hell out of the bkball season so far. Coach Johnson has these guys playing good ball. They're #1 in our hearts, #1 in the SEC West and looking good to make a run in the tourney - if it were played today.
But there are an awful lot of contributing seniors on this team. Remember that next year when it's possible that we'll struggle.
Look at Arkansas - they made a run last year, made the tourney, with a new coach. But the ranks are depleted this year. Regardless of how we do in recruiting this year, we will miss MThornton and QThornton and Chris Johnson and, especially, Garrett Temple.
Bad move by the Indy Bowl. LaTech and ULL might not fill up a ton of hotel rooms, but it would at least be a full gate. Truly, how many N. Illinois fans will travel to Shreveport to make this worthwhile? When the Indy Bowl has a Big 12 and SEC team in, those fans will travel in bunches - even if they're mad about "only" getting the Indy bowl. UL was so happy to make a bowl - and to play LaTech, who they dislike - they would have made an excuse to make a weekend party out of it.
