re: Harbor Island, SC

My family has a place on Harbor so we go quite a bit. Fishcamp in Port Royal is a good spot to go with or without kids. We have a 5 and a 6 year old and take them all the time. Shellring Aleworks is right next to Fishcamp which is a good time. There is also a great farmers market in Port Royal on Saturday mornings. That is all about 20 mins from Harbor
The waterfront in downtown Beaufort has several spots to choose from. I enjoy Plums and there is a nice playground and park they redid within the past year or so which is right on the water that my kids love. Old Bull Tavern is one of my favorite spots downtown but I wouldn't take kids there.
Johnson Creek Tavern and Hunting Island are great recommendations that are close to the island.
Harbor generally has a kids reptile show every Thursday in the summer where they can touch alligators, turtles, etc.. There is also a U-Pick(Dempseys) close to the island where you can pick up lots of fresh vegetables or pick them yourself if you want.
Best liquor store is Bills which is on Lady's Island on your way in
Best ice cream is in the same shopping center as Bills but I forget the name.
Harbor is a good ways out from town so be prepared to trek a little to get supplies
Jiana, Halls, Scoundrel, or The Anchorage are solid dinner places
Lewis BBQ, White Duck Taco, or Nosedive would be some lunch options

Bird’s Fly South is a nice brewery. Community Tap is good. They have two locations but i would go to Trailside if you’re staying downtown
Halls if you’ll be downtown.
Chophouse is good as well if you’re closer to the airport

That sucks. I would check out Coosaw Creek or Wild Dunes then. Dunes West may be public as well but I don't recall.

Coosaw Creek is in North Charleston and is nice. Either of the Wild Dunes courses are good and they are in Mount Pleasant/Isle of Palms. Patriots Point is a good option and is close to downtown in Mount Pleasant. Kiawah has several other courses to play in lieu of The Ocean Course that are much more affordable. I had an internship while in college at Kiawah and found myself playing Turtle Point more than the Ocean Course.

The Old Bull Tavern has good pizza and I like Dockside in Port Royal for seafood. I heard Saltus River Grill has good sushi but I've never been there.
They sell by the pint. At least Thomas Creek, Quest, and Swamp Rabbit do. I'd head an hour north and go to Asheville if you are not in Greenville for some other purpose. I live in Greenville and love it but it can't touch Asheville for breweries.
Our BBQ tends to be better in the lower part of the state with Sweatmans, Jackie Hites, and Scotts.
Henry's Smokehouse is pretty solid and it is in Greenville.
Tupelo Honey or Mary Beth's for Breakfast
The Bohemian has a good burger for lunch

The Velo Fellow or Trappe Door are also cool spots for lunch. Smoke on the Water has a nice outdoor spot for if it is a nice day.

Can't go wrong with The Green Room, Soby's, American Grocery, Larkins, or The Lazy Goat for dinner. Larkins, Soby's, and American Grocery are all pushing the $25/entree though. Lazy Goat is tapas.
Community Tap is a good beer spot.

This is all in Downtown Greenville.

Curate in Asheville is very good if you like tapas. It is my favorite in Asheville. Tupelo Honey is a good breakfast spot. Grove Park Inn is a nice place to grab a drink, especially that time of year. I enjoy the enormous fireplaces in the bar area. I love The Gamekeeper in Boone but it is pretty pricey. I went there recently and was more than impressed.
I don't see how anyone could use the any publicity is good publicity mantra in this siutation but I honestly haven't seen it. I don't doubt that some morons on Volnation are saying just that but I haven't seen it but I haven't really been looking for it either. I don't care about the trash talking to other schools with the exception of calling Herban a cheat since it kind of blew up in his face. I personally didn't care for him one way or the other when he was initially hired as I wanted Kelly but have found myself warming to him the more other fanbases hate him. I don't know why...the reaction he elicits from other fans is hilarious to me. With the exception of our ecofriendly gangsters, which I still have some trouble pinning on Kiffin, he hasn't emabarrassed me as it is football and is supposed to be fun. I also think a lot of his flippant remarks are made in jest. If he doesn't back up his talk shortly his time in Knoxville will have been short but memorable and we'll find someone else to try to turn around our program.
