I will never forget this game. My first ever in Tiger stadium. I was just 10 years old and seconds before ND kicked off a fan ran on the field and stuck a small black skull and cross bone flag right in front of the ball on the tee and chunked a tiger striped hat he was wearing up in the air. It was the loudest I have ever heard TS the others were Earthquake game, USC 79, Georgia 03 and Florida 07. Got brainwashed on Tiger football ever since.
Give it up to Big Red, TIGER BAIT, TIGER BAIT, TIGER BAIT.......

Great photo!
Looks like that's the Memorial tower being built far off in the background. Look at the close up pic on page 1 and you can see the scaffolding still around it.
What are the other large building in the background?
Wonder why the section that the photo was taken from empty? Band and the hot Golden Girls sat there :pimp:
Can you see the Indian mounds with a magnifying glass? They should be in the background behind the flagpole.
Awesome, I to would love to buy a copy of that pic.

No ones mentioned Face Off. I really liked that movie. He did a good job of playing Castor Troy then John Travoltas role as Sean Archer.
re: Who should start at QB this year for LSU Tigers?

Yall some dumb MF. This is so obvious. Most think he sould be at DE but Trindon Holliday would excell at QB with his hight and all. A little slow but he makes up for it with his deep ball. :dude:
re: Your Opinion: LSU as a triple-option team
Posted by DamFineTeam on 4/11/11 at 1:48 pm to chilge1
Can you believe Shep hasn't thrown a pass in a game since high school? Please don't tell me he cant throw. Check out his game tape highlights in HS and that was 3 years ago. Sure he doesn't have a great arm but come on how about a 10 yarder off the jet sweep to the right? He can throw a 10-15 yarder, its not that hard.
I would run a basic triple option play about 4 times a game. I would let Shep throw it about 2 times a game. That is 6 plays out of what 50, 60, 70 plays a game. Is that asking for to much. How do ya know it wouldn't work unless you try it?
Remember, every D would have to account for this in there preparations for us.

Pump fake? Anyone recall a single attempt to throw the defense off with a pump fake in the last three years?
Mtntiger for the next O coordinator. This has pissed me off for the last 3 years also. How can a major college program not be able to execute a pump fake? It works in getting the D leaning the wrong way. We used it all the time in the back yard when I was 10. Teach the pump fake. Is it that hard, can't be, I did it when I was 10. :dunno:
My favorite Saints play is when Brees pumps right, pumps left then he hits Shockey down the middle for a 30 yard gain. They have only run it a few times but damn that play is a thing of beauty.

Hate to bust your bubble, but that jersey is not from 1958. Unless I am wrong, LSU wore all white the entire season

You are probably both right.
This is the story about my #20 game jersey. My father got it when he was there in 57, 58. He didn't remember how or when he got it, probably drinking a few at the time. We always embellished the story over the years. One time we showed it to some friends and told them its the jersey he wore in the 59' Ole Piss game.
Paul Dietzel did start the tradition of the white jerseys in 58'. In 57' I do believe they wore a gold jersey exactly like this for the Florida and Vanderbilt away games, not sure about other 57' games or away games in 58'. Its a very heavy cotton jersey with some blood stains on the bottom front left. The jersey is folded back in the frame. Any help on this subject is welcome and has anyone ever seen a game jersey that Cannon wore?
I did read the OP subject wrong, so my LSU holy grail would be the white jersey he wore during the punt return or the picture of Miles that JJ has.
Maybe I'll spray paint it white :dude:

The Shining, Jack Torrance and Delbert Grady in the bathroom has always been one of my favorite movie scenes and not because they drop the N bomb.

DB U is a stretch. We had PP7. Claiborne is solid and Mathieu is a player but neither are first rounders at the moment. I had high hopes for Loston but his instincts don't seem as good at this level. Reid might be better already.
Loston instincts? He has it when he is putting the huge hit on your arse. Did you see him horse coller that bama dude on the quick screen or the hit he put on Shep in the Under Armor game, how about the guy from Miss State that got knocked the frick out for the 2nd time on our kickoff return. I do agree he needs to work on his coverage but damn I haven't given up on him in no way. He is a big fast dude that likes to run stop.
Chevis Jackson
Corey Webster
LaRon Landry
Patrick Peterson
Mark Roman
Chad Jones
Randal Gay
Travis Daniels
Tory James
Ronnie Prude
Reid
Mathieu
Who else am I forgetting, lots. That equals DB U in my mind. I have always felt comfortable and confidant with LSUs DB over the last 10 years

This dude is incredible. I remember saying that freshman Laron Landry is going to be a great player. I'm thinking Mathieu had a much better freshman year. In the Cotton bowl he had a great diving pick. LSU will be known after the next few years as DB U. He can do it all, corner, nickel back whatever.

Thanks wrlakers, but I thought this tread was about odd rare lsu stuff not a spelling class. Hope you liked everyones stuff on here?
Since you gave me a definition of dam can you show me one for wrlakers?
I have not chosen to associate myself with LSU. I was born and raised to love dem Tigers. (dem is the word them misspelled, wwwerrrlaker)
Just chill and check out the cool stuff in this tread.

Every one of these memories are some of the greatest memories in life for us.
Another one for me was the toss sweep play USC kept running with Hiesman Charles White. With the huge OL comming right at me all I could do was think, "How and the frick can we stop that?" but we did.
Not related but you guys check out the thread titled Odd/rare LSU memorabilia, on page 7 is some of my colection showing Billy Cannons game jersey that I have.

Now for the grand finally! It's a game day jersey worn by none other than Billy Cannon!
My dad got it when he was attending LSU in 1958. It's a heavy cloth jersey and it even has blood stains on the back. Don't know, but has anyone seen a game day jersey from him? My father could not remember the game it was from, probably drinkin a little to much.
Funny story, my bud and I cracked his safe that he kept it in when we were about 11 years old. We were running around playing football with it on and he went balistic when he drove up on us in the back yard.
I have been torn between getting him to sign it or not. It's so cool just like it is, and his signature is very common. Should I or should I not get him to sign it?

Paul Ditzel, Charlie McClendon, "Pop" Strange, Carl Maddox, Max Flugler, Bo Strange, Micky Mangham, Warren Rabb, Billy Cannon, Johnny Robinson, Don Purvis, Gus Kinchen.

1971, It wasn't a play but it was right before the start of the LSU vs Notre Dame game. A crazy dude runs out on the field and plants a skull and crossbone flag right in front of the ball as ND was ready to kick off. He then throws his tiger striped hat in the air and the crowd went wild. I'll never forget that and have been brainwashed on LSU since. That was my first game at Tiger stadium and I was 9 years old.

Really neat stuff, DamFineTeam.
As cool as it is, though, I don't think, that your ashtray is as old as you think. LSU did not come up with that uniform until the 1950s. Also, I'm pretty sure numbers for football uniforms weren't even invented until the 30s. There was no Tiger Stadium in 1921, and Tiger Stadium was not a bowl until 1953.
Maybe your ashtray was a gift or an award given to Bill Pitcher long after his playing days. Is there an inscription or stamp underneath the ashtray?
You are right, it does say 1921 - 1925 on it. It was probably givin to him some time later and commemorates his playing days.
