After several years of observing much more than speaking, this has become apparent:
Referees are the last shelter for losers. "Luck" plays a part in the majority of games. The rest are blowouts....
re: If you think about it all of Bamas NCs under Saban are tainted

OP is tainted
OP doesn't realize what a football game is. Injuries are a "part."
(Doesn't Scarborough's injury get considered?

After watching Bama since 1945 it is hard to think of the most satisfying win, but I think the most disappointing play and loss for me was the 1973 Notre Dame pass from the end zone that iced the ND win in the Sugar Bowl....
This one statement sums you up, pal. It's obvious that you have an ax to grind with Battle and Gaston. Suggestion: You can do nothing about the hire or anything to do with the AD at Alabama, so get over it....and yourself and DWI!!
I do remember Maury, but my "innocent" young mind was shielded from such goings on. Actually, there were stories and a number of them were evidently true.
I followed from afar for seasons '53 thru '60 while with the military. Also military in '52. Caught the Sugar Bowl following the 61 season. Fo...

You arent really. (Though I have no idea how many years you have been around.) This will be my 71st year of Bama football, with a few out for Army time. Am a tv follower now, but season tickets from 1962 to 1999. Moved to So Car for grandkids.
I remember a few names from earlier in the 40's, but ...

re: Did Avery Johnson just pull a reverse Bear Bryant?

You failed to mention, because that would have failed your purpose in posting, that both Bryant and Butts sued the Saturday Evening Post. Bryant settled for 300,000, Butts was awarded just over three million, eventually getting 460,000. The magazine went out of business just a couple of years later....

roadGator, I am a Bama grad, and an observer of Bama football since the Tennessee game of 1945. I am a fan, but as I understand today's definition of "homer," I don't believe I am. I don't talk trash, don't brag about games not played (or most that have been). I love the game, but wonder about folks...
re: After Alabama's Dynasty

I also watched those games as a teenager. The Army-ND games were great, but it was a completely different type of football. Don't think either one of those teams would compete with the better teams today. They were much smaller, and the game is much faster....

re: Biggest busts your school has EVER had
Posted by sctide on 7/23/15 at 2:17 pm
Bama's biggest bust wasn't a player, but a coach, "Ears" Whitworth, mid 1950's.
1955 record 0 wins 10 losses (with Bart Starr at quarterback)
1956 - 2 7 1 tie (finished 10th in 12 team league (Ga Tech and Tulane were in at the time - Tulane and Kentucky were 11 and...

Thanks for the response. Sometimes we old "geezers" have to drop in to show we know what a computer is.
Appreciate the response from a fan of my second favorite team. I recall the first game Coach Bryant coached against LSU at Bama. LSU won. Don't recall the exact score, but Bama only came...

re: My reason for believing Auburn can win

I started to read all four pages, but my senior citizen brain reminded me that the teams will not meet at the fifty-yard line and compare statistics. They will play the game, and the team that executes its assignments with the fewest errors and wins most of the "5-10 second wars" that make up the ga...
