I've had some really similar symptoms. I was kinda curious how your appt. went? Praying all is well and you got to enjoy the holidays.

Opinion on quote for new gutters

Posted by adidaman27 on 7/12/22 at 11:06 am
Getting quoted $12 per ft and $95 per downspout in Baton Rouge area. Does this seem reasonable for 6" K-style gutters?

Thanks for any opinions
Very grateful for all of the detailed information from everyone.

Those city parks sound great and I'm glad they have some nice free stuff to do too.

The Doseum was something that sounded interesting, but wasn't sure about. I'm going to petition we go there a little more now knowing it was a fun time.

I'm not a big breakfast person, but I'll certainly make an exception for a good breakfast taco.

Seems like we'll have lots to choose from to do. Getting excited for a great trip
Thanks!

Which one of those BBQ places has the best brisket in your opinion? That's my favorite thing to order.

I appreciate the warning, but I do think we'll end up going to the Alamo because others have mentioned it already. I was hopeful I could find an audio tour that might make it more enjoyable.

I figured walking around the Alamo is mostly free, but might not be entertaining for smaller kids...Are there any free or low cost things to go to or do with little kids?
We've got a trip in mid-March with a couple of families with kids (6 to > 1 yr, but most preschool/toddler) to San Antonio.

I know there is lots to do in San Antonio, but I wasn't sure how much younger kids would enjoy all of it. I'd like to know what others think about places like Sea World, Lego Land, The Riverwalk area, etc. as entertainment for smaller kids.

Some suggestions for good places to eat that can easily accommodate a couple of young families like this would also be appreciated. I am personally looking forward to some good Texas BBQ.

Thanks for the help!

Thanks so much for all the info you've posted! I know it probably takes alot of time to research and/or come up with all of this.

I just finished going through the RFL diet program for 6 wks a 2nd time and I liked all the elements from this program you suggested I incorporate (fasted walking, exercises, etc.). Looking forward to starting GSLP soon.

I read through every link you posted so far and I'm towards the end of the GSLP book. I was wondering if you'd mind giving one more "anonymous S.O.B" access to your drive so I could do some more reading? Thanks!
I was wondering if anyone had ever booked a Maui vacation through this company? Aloha Hawaiian Vacations

We're not the best at planning things (indecisive) and thought this might be a good deal. We're wanting to go in the last week of December if that makes a difference. Just curious if these are good hotels and things to do for a reasonable price. Thought I'd check with some experts

Thanks for the help!

Perfect. That's exactly what I needed to know. Thank you! You are too kind!

First, thank you for your thorough reply. Everyone's help is much appreciated.

I have been implementing your suggested adjustments and I feel like I'm getting back on track. I'm on my last 2 weeks of a 6 week run and I plan on skipping the refeeds and cheat meals. I skipped the one I had planned for Tue. and I feel pretty good.

I've been doing fasted walking in the morning this week for 45 min each day. I'm going to try and get the six hours per week the article suggested in.

I attempted the workout routine you suggested on Tue. and it didn't go quite how I expected so I thought I might be doing it wrong.

quote:

Try cutting it back to 2 days lifting concentrating on the follwing lifts

Incline DB Bench
Deads
Weighted Chins
Barbell Shoulder Press
Squats
Weighted Dips

For abs just do 3 sets of hanging leg raises.

I was attempting 2 to 3 sets (mostly 3) and trying to hit 6 to 10 reps (mostly 10) each and was exhausted after the first 3 exercises. Was this meant to be a full total body workout completed (top to bottom) for those 2 days a week, or was I supposed to breakup the exercises and perform them each just once over the 2 days?

I was also thinking it would have been more manageable as a whole workout if I was attempting less sets or reps, but I wasn't sure.

I know these are details I should probably have figured out, but I would appreciate any more feedback you might have.

Thanks, as always

I think I must be doing something wrong, and I'm not sure what it is. I have some theories, but I don't know why the weight isn't coming off for me.

I started 8/21: Category 2 (25% BF), 215 lbs., and lifting weights 3 days a week. After 22 straight days of compliance (2 refeeds, 3 cheat meals) I have only lost 7 lbs. 5 of which were the first week. I take measurements once a week on Saturday morning and have only lost 1" on my waist and 2 lbs since the first 5 days. My refeeds are Tuesday and cheat meals on Saturday night so I don't think that would affect the measurements.

I have identified a few things that I might not be doing "by the book" and I'm looking for other opinions on what might be the issue.

1. I'm working out too hard - I took the 3 day workout example from his book and adjusted it. I do the max sets he suggests and usually 10 reps instead of 6-8. I used starting weight the 1st week that was kind of low because I wasn't sure how I would feel. I've gone up in weight easily each workout so far, but I'm near my old numbers and I'm struggling a bit more. At the end of each workout I do a 15 min(leg day) or 8 min(upper day) ab workout. I consider it a little cardio. I think it may be too much cardio, but I don't do anything else all day (desk job). I also drink a whey isolate drink (20g p, 1 carb) before and after my workout. I tried skipping a workout before my last weigh in, but I'm not certain what affect it had.

2. I'm doing refeeds and/or cheat meals wrong - my first refeed was day 9 on the diet. 4 days after my 1st cheat meal. Eating that amount of carbs (goal of 400g) was awful. I got them all by eating a small amount of quinoa, sweet potatoe, bread, and a TON of lentils. I was forcing them down and felt way too full. 2nd refeed I set my grams goal a bit lower and used brown rice. Still way too full, but better. I can't imagine why I have to eat so much, but since I'm lifting I do as much as I can.

I haven't gone crazy on my cheat meals. A Caniac w/ sweet teas one time. A pretty thick bacon double cheeseburger, shared fries, and a milkshake another time. Then last one was Chicken Parm, cheese bread, and some ice cream for my wife's bday. I don't know the calories but I think they're reasonable. I always hit my protein too.

3. Eating off the list - I have not been fighting cravings or hunger so far, and haven't felt the need to eat veggies at each meal. I take a greens supplement and I'm trying psyllium husk for fiber. Neither were on his list. I've also tried a few 0 calorie seasonings. Walden farms dressing and bbq sauce with my chicken/turkey (no more than a tbsp). I also like Propel's 0 calorie electrolyte powder. At most one or two packets a day. Also, it's a bit easier to swallow all of these big vitamins for me with Jello. So, 1 or 2 sugar free 10 calorie Jellos if I need it. I wonder how all the 0 calorie sugar substitutes affect weight loss sometimes.

4. Sodium intake and water - I don't know a good way to monitor all of my sodium, but I would be surprised if I get 3g each day. I brine most of my meat and use some salty seasonings, but not a ton.

I also doubt I get 2 gallons of water a day. I drink at least 1 gallon, but not much after that. Just seems like I go to the bathroom enough already.

Last thing that isn't quite compliant is that I'm still not up to the full 3 doses a day of the EC stack. I'm very sensitive to stimulants and I'm working my way up. Ephedra is at 1.5 doses. Caffeine is at 1 dose.

Sorry for the wall of text, but I appreciate any thoughts or comments from the wealth of experience here. I promised myself 6 weeks on this diet, but the lack of results through 3 wks is disheartening. Thanks!
After doing a little research I found this app. It works well on my Pixel XL. Google Play store app

That information was very helpful! Thank you both for responding. I've been looking into all of the options you mentioned.

I had a few other things I wanted to get some more experienced thoughts/opinions on:

-Do you find that you need to or get the best results when you do the 3 daily doses of the EC stack that Lyle recommends? I'm guessing it varies based on your tolerance to stimulants, but I wasn't sure how much the extra doses improved results in your experiences.

-My last diet involved intermittent fasting (I used a daily 8 hour feeding window). I'm pretty used to it, but I wasn't sure how safe it was with so few calories on RFL. Certain supplements in the morning in a fasted state also kind of worry me. Do you think combining the two dieting approaches would cause any issues/concerns on a daily basis?

-I was pretty sure that I read where he recommend the cheat meal be "after a workout?" I would think before makes more sense so you would have energy for a tough workout. On the chance that you agree, let's say I'm having my cheat meal Saturday night, would noon Sunday be an optimal time to get in a good workout and use that "cheat meal energy?" I will have fasted after the cheat meal, if that makes a difference.

-On the Refeeds I'm supposed to consume 3g of carbs per lb of LBM. That will have me getting 483.75g of carbs withing 900 - 1800 calories. What are some good foods to get me there? I used to cook big bowls of brown rice and lentils and thought that might work. I also love to just eat bread and rolls if that's a good option. What would be some some other smart (and hopefully tasty) choices?

I'm a Category 2 (215 lbs, 25% BF) and I'm looking forward to starting on Monday! I'm trying to get back to high school weight, 185.

Thank you all again for all of your help and your time!!

This diet is really intriguing to me, but I have a few details I would like more information on (maybe more than a few but I'll start slow...)

I haven't seen too many people mention the Supplements he lists off. I noted Salt, Potassium, Magnesium, Calcium Citrate, Ephedrine, Caffeine, and Milk Protein Isolate in addition to a Multi-Vitamin on my read through of the book (thank you for posting btw).

Does everyone use all of these? Where do you get them and what brands are good/reliable? I know this book is a few years old so maybe some of this stuff is harder to get (ephedrine), but I wasn't sure. I've only ever used whey protein and pre & post workouts.

For the record I have read the entire book and every post in this thread because there is great information in both. Reading about your experiences and lessons learned is very helpful to a relative novice like myself. Thank you!
I'm looking for some advice on a problem I've been having with Kodi on my Amazon FireTv for a while.

I'm running Krypton (17.1) on my FireTv and an Android Tablet (Samsung Galaxy Tab S2). Both are connected wirelessly to a router that speed tests at around 100mbps regularly from any device in my home.

When I try to watch anything within Kodi on the FireTv I get constant buffering and "The source is too slow for constant playback" message. I can pull up the exact same source on my tablet and watch with no buffering or messages.

What does that mean? Is there some setting I can check or some full folder I can clear out? Is my ISP targeting that device somehow? Will I need to get a VPN to see improved speed?

I appreciate any suggestions or feedback. Thanks!
I found this guy who makes his own adapters with microcontrollers.

N64 and GC apapters

They work. I bought one that allows me to use a N64 controller on my Wii (GC port) for Smash Bros. Brawl. I never noticed any lag, but it was perfect for the way I played the original (N64).

I'm thinking the ones that hook to Wii remotes and act like "pro controllers" should work pretty good, but I don't know about the wireless element.

Just thought I'd pass it along. Happy Black Friday!

re: wii U virtual console question

Posted by adidaman27 on 12/10/12 at 9:34 am to
I had also been hearing what the previous poster was saying, but it is only partly true that you can't play virtual console games from your Wii on a new WiiU.

Nintendo created what seems like an emulator for the WiiU that will simulate a Wii environment for playing Wii games and virtual console games. You have to set it up when you first boot up the systema and it will appear as an icon on your WiiU menu. The process involves an external memory card larger than 512 mb and having both systems connected to the internet. In the end, you basically have a "wiped" old Wii system that no longer has any Mii's, game saves, Wii points, or VC games on it.

Also, you have to use the Wii Remote (or Remote Plus) to do anything when you are using the "Wii Emulator" on the WiiU. That answers your second question.

It seems like in the end the only advantage to this is that you could get rid of your old Wii if you wanted to. Unless you like playing Gamecube games.

Hope this helps...
