re: Best saltwater on boat net
Posted by BLACKSHEEP on 7/15/19 at 8:19 am to chalupa
I bought the collapsible one from bass pro. That way i can put it in a compartment when traveling. it works well on all inshore species and red snapper. the net is also rubber mesh as i agree with above, rubber is better than nylon netting.

We used Stingray charters earlier this year. 60ish year old man that was nice and great with our kids. 34 Hydra sport center console with 3 yammy 250's on it. Highly recommend.

I've used Doug at D&T. His work is excellent and he is very quick getting your boat back to you. Bubba Dear is awesome but insurance/warranty claims take precedence over your boat...a friend's boat was there almost 6 months getting a transom replaced. I have pics of before and after of some stress crack repairs D&T did to my boat if you want me to email you (or look on there facebook page pics for red and white bay boat).
re: Weathertech or Husky Liners ?
Posted by BLACKSHEEP on 5/10/19 at 1:21 pm to m2pro
i had husky's in my F250 cause i got a good deal on them. Pulled them out and put weather tech's in a year later. Maybe it is vehicle specific but the husky's didn't stay put in my truck, weather tech's do.
re: Looking to buy gps

Depending on size you may not have to buy used. I run Garmin's and right now a new 942xs (touchscreen with chirp sonar and downview but not sideview) can be had for $1300. new 1042's (keyed with chirp sonar, sideview and downview) for 1500. If you are only running one MFD and don't need networking then Echomap ultra for 1600. To me these are all good prices for new MFD's. Other brands should have something similar. 12" MFD's are 2500 and up.
re: Motorguide Xi5
Posted by BLACKSHEEP on 3/14/19 at 8:37 am to Wtodd
I bought my Xi5 2.5 years ago after only having Minn Kota's prior. In the saltwater remote control version the Motorguide is better. It holds tighter than the I pilot even after Minn Kota made the I pilot better in late 2016. I've had zero problem out of mine and would buy another before i bought the I pilot just because of the tighter holding in anchor mode. Both are good motors and better than the hand control type. The only downside to the motorguide i've been told is the parts take longer to get (this was when i bought mine) but i haven't had to worry about that yet.
re: Diesel Owners...DEF Question for you
Posted by BLACKSHEEP on 3/5/19 at 2:40 pm to NASA_ISS_Tiger
The 2.5 gallon Blu def comes with a long expandable spout. I've never spilled any using it. the 1 gallon bottle does not come with same spout and is easier to spill.
re: Minn Kota Ulterra or Motorguide Xi5 trolling motor
Posted by BLACKSHEEP on 8/7/18 at 4:17 pm to DownshiftAndFloorIt
I bought the Xi5 for xmas 2016 for my bay boat. it has been flawless and not one problem since i got it. Before 2016 the MK spot lock was not as good as the anchor mode on the MG. Around the end of 2016 MK made changes to their's to make spot lock better but i'm still not sure if it's as good as the MG. I do like the auto deploy of the MK if it's not alot of problems with it.
re: Whats the best time to go to LSP headquarters to get prints?
Posted by BLACKSHEEP on 5/9/18 at 2:03 pm to Glock17
Never. Everyone i talked to tried different times but still a long line. But you can go to an outlier parish sheriff's dept and get prints done alot quicker (livingston is where i did mine and i assume Ascension etc will too).
re: Ascension Parish Boat Seat Upholstery
Posted by BLACKSHEEP on 4/23/18 at 8:12 am to Who Me
I used Mad man Mark's in BR last year. Leaning post (large one) was $285. I had jump seats on back deck that the back cushion was $55 each. The jump seats seat was $185 each because of the cutout for the latch. FYI. they did great work but at least that gives you some prices.
re: Buffing a boat
Posted by BLACKSHEEP on 1/17/18 at 12:59 am to Redlos
I'm doing my boat right now. I used 3m Perfect it light with wax and it shine my 07 hull right on up. I used a 100% wool pad because it has some grit to it for any oxidation. a synthetic wool or foam pad (with 3m finesse it compound) will take swirl marks out if you don't have any oxidation. My 1st time doing it but it's easy. I'm ceramic coating my hull so i don't have any preference on wax but on the hull truth they say collinite wax is the best.
re: Black Bay tips
Posted by BLACKSHEEP on 7/14/17 at 8:58 am to magicman534
Went yesterday. Water was beautiful and salty everywhere i went. tide flatlined around 730 unlike the prediction but we still did ok. River will be rising for the next couple of days which will mess most of black bay up for about a week. there are spots that stay clean with high river if you know where to find them but I'd wait till Miss. river level at NO is 8 feet or less. we have been catching fish in the last bays before black bay (lake campo, oak river bay, bay gardene)
re: Inshore fishing this weekend
Posted by BLACKSHEEP on 5/26/17 at 10:40 am to LEASTBAY
I'm going to Delacroix. I've been told Black bay is out because of the high river and wind direction so i'll be trying to find clean water on the inside and redfish. if i get a wild hair i'll make the trip to MRGO rocks. should be clean there which is easier to get to from hopedale.
re: Minn Kota Talons
Posted by BLACKSHEEP on 4/19/17 at 2:34 pm to swamplynx
Super easy. positive, negative go to 12v battery. there's also a green wire for ignition source if you want to wire it up to alarm when the key is turned on and talon is down. i got the bracket that mounts to the side of a jackplate. once bracket was mounted (1 hour maybe) it took a total of 30 minutes to mount and wire up.
i bought my 12' from digital oasis online. typed in talon 12' white in google and went to the shopping tab. found the cheapest and bought it. $1500

re: Tablets on a boat
Posted by BLACKSHEEP on 8/4/16 at 11:19 am to Bama Shadow
i just bought a Garmin 94sv without transducer for $599. That's a 9 inch display. Tablets aren't much cheaper than that if at all. They are still on sale.

Garmin GPS on sale
Posted by BLACKSHEEP on 7/21/16 at 2:05 pm
I've been looking for a bigger GPS/sonar for my bay boat. I only have a 5" Garmin and it's hard to see when traveling. I also wanted one bigger to flush mount in my console. I came across this and bought one this morning. Thought I'd share if anyone is searching for one. It is 9" widescreen with downview and sideview sonar.

There are a bunch of good trainers around. Most all will have someone out there that will have something bad to say about them. I personally had a very bad experience with Steve at Bear Creek, but I also saw dogs that were great he trained.
Jay Dufour will be my next trainer.

re: Question regarding LSU Oline
Posted by BLACKSHEEP on 9/6/09 at 7:53 am to labamafan
We replaced the center and left guard. The oline should be fine if we can get a passing game going. Washington did what teams did the last part of last year, 8 in the box and make us pass. Only there wasn't many pass plays called last night for some reason.
