Spotrac List of Draftees Contract Values
I confirmed the values for LSU and Alabama. They check out if Spotrac's number are correct.
LSU per Player: $ 9,479,155.00
Alabama per Player: $ 7,039,441.30
If you want any other schools, you have the link above.
This is total value of their contracts.

re: Who knows the details of Spurrier almost becoming LSU coach

My mother was on the Athletic Council in 1987 as was part of the interview team. In Spurrier's interview he was asked if he would leave LSU for the Florida head Coach position if it was open. His answer was (paraphrase - not exact quote) "Yes, of course. That is where my heart is." That turned the Athletic Council off to Spurrier.

"Is there a stat for oponnents average starting field position? It would be interesting to see.
What is our average starting field position?"
Many of the listed stats come from www.cfbstats.com. I did not see a stat for average field position there but the stat can be calculated. I used the unofficial drive charts on www.si.com and came up with the following:
LSU Average Field Position: LSU's 37.66 Yard Line
Opp Average Field Position: OPP's 25.71 Yard Line
So, LSU has averaged 12 yards better field position.
My numbers may be off but they should be close.

LSU website does not show him as a coach. His current bio on Linkin shows him as graduate assistant.

4 Moore 0.67187

I'm not making any statements about Cholly Mac because I don't know enough, but I at least do know that schedules weren't littered with creampuff games back then.
That would actually be a start for the Positigers: to stop spouting generic win/loss %'s for Miles and instead focus on the games that actually matter. Go look at LSU's schedule in 1987 and compare that to now. No creampuffs AND LESS games.

I totally agree. LSU's schedule was significantly tougher then. The added games set up the lessening of the toughness of the schedule.
We will see how LSU does next year with the first game (I think first?) against Oregon. We are both losing players, but they should be harder than the directional schools in La.

I grew up in Baton Rouge during the McClendon era. he lived in our neighborhood. Yes, some context is in order. All of these coaches were/are at LSU for at least 5 years.
