The USS Kidd (DD-661) recently completed a major, 14-month overhaul at Thoma-Sea Marine Constructors in Houma, LA (TMC) (2024-2025), its first significant repair in over 60 years, addressing severe hull deterioration from its long dockside stay in Baton Rouge. Repairs included hull blasting, structural steel replacement (frames, longitudinals, hull plates), cradle reinforcement, rudder work, and preparation for repainting in WWII dazzle camouflage, with final detailing handled by museum staff as the ship returns to Baton Rouge in Spring 2026.
