Because most old testament prophecies have not reached their ultimate fulfillment yet though many have been fulfilled in type, esp in regards to the end times, which really most of these utterances apply to if you have the Spirit interpreting it for you. If not, it's hard to see it. I understand your dilemma and do agree that the Bible should be studied in context. However what would you say to the many quoted prophesies in the book of Matthew for instance from the old testament that he says were fulfilled in a way which seemingly had little or nothing to do with the original utterance and it's application to the times it was given in?

Is it murdering character to state facts about a person? Trump was Jesuit trained at Fordham, has self professed to not being a Christian, and yet if you ask some of his evangelical base they would swear up and down he is saved and that God is using Him as he used king David etc etc... I'm addressing the delusion that many have of Trump. That is not a murder of his character as he does that just fine all by himself everyday every time he speaks.
