re: SLU 41 McNeese 7, yet McNeese is ranked higher?

There's 24 teams in the playoffs now, not 20 like it was last year. With three extra at-large spots (Pioneer league now has an automatic bid), plus there are two more playoff spots that Appy State and Georgia Southern held last year. Due to that SLU win over McN, and the Lions' strength of schedule at 18, much stronger than several 7-2 teams, SHSU, McNeese and SHSU should all make the playoffs.
Precisely. That's what makes it so great.
"Stupid. Gay."
Why not pinch run with Katz on base. Might make it to second safely or at least get the defense to make a mistake on the attempted double play with a little more speed on the basepaths.
re: Good article from outsider perspective of regional

Thanks. I think they did. Once the draw came out, I don't think many realistically thought they could get out of the region in the toughest environment in college baseball, but would put up a good showing like they did a year ago at Rice for the Houston Regional. They played well, shut down ULL for two games for the most part (errors and hit batters killed them) and came out swinging against Nola.
It's hard to think that they didn't enjoy the weekend in Baton Rouge. It wasn't the best-played baseball fielding-wise, but nearly all six games were tense and exciting. There can't be a better atmosphere or environment in baseball. I'm sure they would all say the same.

Hello all, I'm the guy who wrote that column. I'm from Slidell originally and have lived in Huntsville since '05 and Katrina swooped in. It was kind of an interesting deal, the whole weekend. Basically, I was 9 years old, the age we're all the most impressionable, when the Tigers won their first title in 1991, so getting to come back and work the regional, go behind the scenes, etc. was a pretty great experience, especially to stay there to the end to see the final out and celebrate the regional title.
Anyways, thanks for the feedback. Writing it was fun. :geauxtigers:

Sam Houston State over Baylor.
Well, the Stars have been playing well recently. Compared to a couple of weeks ago, they're sitting pretty. Living in Huntsville, Tx right now, so I'm really looking forward to the Blues-Stars regular-season finale on 4-7. Could also be a playoff series.
Blues now tops in the Western Conference!!!

What a day. First, St. Louis beats down the Chihawks, then get a couple of gifts in detroit going down to Philly and the Canucks getting housed by Dallas. C'mon playoffs.
Without shootouts (four of them), the streak would've stopped at 13. Finding ways to get points is still impressive, though.
Don't know if shootouts should necessarily count toward win totals. It's not as though they've been around forever.
BLUES!!!

Not the last 7, but A&M has won the last five. In the first part of the 10-season in the late 80s and early 90s, the Tigers beat the Ags four out of five times. Here's a story I wrote for our newspaper in Huntsville, TX about it. It was actually pretty interesting researching it: Rivalry rekindled
If that happens and both Saints and giants finish 11-5, saints would be no. 5 seed and play nfc west winner
It looks like the Saints have the tiebreaker over new yawk.
re: So we basically lost the division today

Winning the division would've been an uphill battle anyway. Saints would've needed a Falcons loss to either Seattle or Carolina. All that matters is getting into the playoffs.
The games against the Browns and the Cardinals that'll decide it. Everything else is pretty much the same, but the Saints lost to Cleveland and Arizona, while atlanta beat both of them.
Yeah, in that scenario, those games against Cleveland and Arizona can be costly. Because atlanta beat both those teams, the Saints could be 13-3 and end up as the No. 5 seed
