Why do all the LSU fans act like they personally know Nick Saban. I bet none of you have ever met the guy.

I have.
well put...I totally agree. I think bama should just concede the sec to Florida since it "appears" they will lose based on what we have seen so far.

welcome...

This is what I don't get. I can see leaving the state to go to a prestigious private school like Vanderbilt, Duke, etc. I could even see leaving for a really good state school like Michigan or UVa, but to leave the state just to go to another cookie-cutter state school that is basically the same as LSU makes no sense. Why pay the extra out-of-state tuition for basically the same experience and education?

I agree! There is NO sense in it.

Whatever, my intent was get a "pulse" on the mindset of the high school kids these days in NOLA. To hear from those who are in better position than I am as to whether or not these kids consider LSU their premier choice for college. I am sure that TOPS has contributed to the rise of LSU's attractiveness, and that is really good.

I am still really pissed at the Mannings...(case in point, I guess - since they went to Newman)
Well, I appreciate the input and enjoy the discussion. I had many friends that went to other schools (albeit still private, catholic schools) and still many of them went to other state schools.

To me it just seemed that there was a disconnect between NO and LSU. I would compare the attitude of LSU in NOLA (back then) to that of the Saints in BR (up until recently, of course)

I know my own children have one 1 option (rather, no option) when it comes time to "pick" their college.

Um, ok, I am female. Academy of the Sacred Heart, or just Sacred Heart, which was always easier!

I think Sammobile is an LSU fan.

LSU owns NOLA, especially surrounding suburbs. Natl Championships have cemented it even more, since I have lived here. Being in the retail industries, LSU is everywhere on game days. Even students who go to other schools in the area, with exception of Tulane, root for LSU.

That is good to hear! I would hate for them to miss out on being a part of Tiger Nation!

New Orleans not huge Tiger Fans...

I am going to a party for the game where I will be reunited with many people I knew in high school (in NOLA, graduated in '91)

Many of these people went to Alabama and will be rooting for the tide on Saturday. Growing up there, I was NEVER an LSU fan, always a Saints fan. LSU seemed very removed from my life as a kid and through high school. It didn't seem strange to me at all that so many "of us" went to Georgia, Alabama, Ole Miss, UVA, Auburn, etc.

What is the deal with this? Hell, I almost went to AUBURN!! MY God! What was I thinking?

My question is...has this mentality changed at all since then? DO New Orleans high school graduates flock to LSU? Is the city contributing to the LSU fan base?

Looking back, it seems so odd that I didn't know a damned thing about LSU, and now I am a proud member of the LSU FIGHTING TIGER faithful!
