Ole Miss transfer pitcher Noah Allen has announced that he is transferring to Alabama.
The 6-foot-7, 205-pound hurler out of Watkinsville, Georgia will immediately bolster Alabama’s pitching staff for the 2027 season.
Allen spent one season in Oxford. In eight appearances, he obtained a 1-0 record with a 2.89 ERA.
In addition, Allen struck out 12 batters in 9.1 total innings of work while allowing just three earned runs.

The home-and-away assignments for each pairing of SEC programs are as equitable as possible.
- The only scenario in which an SEC program will play a road game against the same opponent for two consecutive seasons is if the opposing program (1) was a two-play opponent in the 2025-26
season and/or (2) will be a two-play opponent during the 2026-27 season.
- Because discretionary two-play opponents change annually and each program must play nine home and nine away games, perfect home-and-away balance is not always possible between
programs that have been discretionary two-play opponents in some, but not all, recent seasons.
The conference office tracks these imbalances and will restore balance for the affected matchups at the earliest opportunity.

Added some positions of need without losing anyone unexpectedly. Just how it should be.

The transfer portal has closed, and Alabama softball came away with exactly what it needed: no unexpected departures and three additions right where it needed them.
Every player on the Crimson Tide’s roster who was eligible to return remained with the program, giving Alabama continuity after a 56-9 season and a trip to the Women’s College World Series semifinals. The 2027 Alabama roster welcomes back 14 returnees and says hello to five incoming freshmen after losing seven seniors.
While the portal was open, Alabama added redshirt freshman left-handed pitcher Kailey Plumlee from Tennessee to its roster along with a pair of rising juniors: outfielder Noelani Livingstone (Florida SouthWestern State) and catcher Karlee Ford (Iowa State).

I suppose this qualifies as off-season news (Baseball America)

MLB Seeks Sweeping Draft Overhaul, Including End Of High School Eligibility
As part of the MLB and MLBPA’s collective bargaining negotiations, Major League Baseball proposed on Thursday the elimination of high school draftee eligibility as part of a broader framework to significantly rework the amateur player acquisition system.
The proposal would also cut the MLB Draft from 20 to 12 rounds, slash draft bonuses by more than 50% compared to last year’s totals, allow for more expansive trading of draft picks and establish hard draft slots, which would mean that a draft pick’s signing bonus would be for a set amount as determined by the draft position.
The proposal would also establish an international amateur draft that would have the same amount of bonus compensation as the MLB amateur draft. In previous CBA proposals, MLB proposed lower bonus pools for the international draft.
MLB’s proposal also assures these changes will not impact the number of affiliated teams in the MiLB Professional Development License (PDL) system. MLB stated that the number of affiliated MiLB teams would remain at 120, and that MLB would not be seeking reductions in the 2030 PDL negotiations with MiLB club owners.
This lengthy new proposal is part of the negotiations that have taken place between MLB and the MLBPA in advance of the current collective bargaining agreement expiring in December. There is no guarantee this system will be adopted in whole or even in part. But it does serve as a marker for MLB’s starting point of negotiations on talent procurement with the players’ union.
Baseball America has reached out to the MLBPA for comment and will update this story with their response. Below, BA subscribers can read more about the potential ramifications of MLB’s new proposal.

Alabama relief pitcher Kaden Humphrey has confirmed with me that he is RETURNING for another season in Tuscaloosa.
Humphrey transferred from North Florida to Alabama last offseason. He made three appearances for the Crimson Tide in 2026 before suffering a season-ending injury.
In his college career, Humphrey has made 51 appearances, recording a 3-4 record and a 5.68 ERA with 12 career saves.
He will provide valuable experience and depth in the back-end of Alabama’s bullpen.
This is huge news for Rob Vaughn and the Crimson Tide!
