Haines- sign up for the Twilight wildlife watch by raft.
Bus will take you to the river , the eagle preserve.. when it parks, MAKE SURE you go stand by the raft furthest downstream in the line up of them on the bank. That'll be the 1st one to shove off, with the other rafts following. Saw many bears, wolves, moose, and other animals(they scrammed when spotting us). Trailing rafts didn't see much if any of them. Saw literally a couple hundred eagles, many catching salmon; floated within 15 feet of some standing on gravel bars, standing their ground with salmon at their feet. The juveniles flew back a distance, but the adults didn't budge as we drifted by.The close ones spreading their wings and posing a fierce profile at us. PRICELESS
