re: New cameras set up by Louisiana on highway 61 at the LA/MS state line

It is a virtual weight in motion station. It weighs trucks as they pass using sensors in the concrete. It eliminates the need for a full blown weigh station.
This is the first vwim system in the state but there will be more of them popping up in the next few years.

30x40 Shop vs. 4 Car Garage
Posted by Williedood on 7/12/20 at 10:34 am
I'm in the process of building a new house and was wondering what would be more cost effective. A 30x40 shop or just building the house with a 4 car garage.
The shop would have to have a brick veneer on the front but other than that there aren't many restrictions. Just trying to have a space for my boat, tools, mower, etc. And not break the bank.

When did you teach your kids to shoot?
Posted by Williedood on 4/11/20 at 10:43 pm
My oldest has shown intrest in shooting and hunting. What age did you start your kids? How did start them out? I'm thinking start with a bb gun for a year or so and then a single shot .22 I'd love to get em in the woods to watch and experience next year.
Thanks

re: Public Land/WMA hunting with a youth hunter

Apply for the youth lotto hunts. Growing up I would get drawn for 2 or 3 a year. Most of the time the hunts were very controlled and at times when the WMA wasn't open to the public. It's a very stress free and cheap way to introduce you kids to the outdoors. Killed 2 does and missed one in the 4 years I did them. Did the same for Turkey and Duck hunting.

Are the "Weatherproof" ones worth the money?
Should I just buy a cheap one, put a cover on it, and expect to replace it every few years?
It will be under a covered patio.

How about shoot what makes you happy?
If killing spikes makes you happy I'm all for it.
If you want to trophy hunt I'm all for it.

Upper Ouachita NWR is full of them. I hunt deer close to the refuge and have pictures of 4-5 different bears this year.

Looking for a new place to get some deer sausage made. What are some good spots in East Baton Rouge, Ascension or Livingston area. Also, if you have a favorite flavor let me know.
