Are you hunters who are shooting these eating them? Growing up we passed on these as they were supposedly fish eaters and sub par table fare. Seems like guys are always talking about "getting a limit" then half the ducks on the lanyard are these types so got curious and thought Id ask. Thanks
Build a time machine and go get back of Mcelroy swamp circa 1985...mallards everywhere.

Seriously have no expectations and just enjoy being out there. If you get a couple great and take some great pics!

So many good shows there back in the day...Hum, Tripping Daisy, Toadies, Self, T Model Ford, Space Hog, North Mississippi All stars, DMB, etc in addition to the ones above
So, so very jealous. I was eight when they disbanded. If I had a time machine...

Heydey was clearly G. Prejean from 91-2000ish. So many national acts of note that have been mentioned, but also Public Enemy, No Doubt, Wilco, Tori Amos, Danzig, S. Crow .. a diverse mix for sure ... including lots of smartly planned showcases with DMB, 311 etc. If memory serves, they were free. KLSU even promoted and "sponsored" shows. I don't recall Beck performing, but there is a lot i didn't retain.

Just a different time. A real music community alongside the Art Bar, Bayou, Chelseas and even Murphy's.

The guy in the middle was terrible really with bad taste and uncharismatic stiffness. If the Chimes team really wanted it back, they could hire someone and make a go of it.

Your memory is right, DM was definitely free. See my post above.
I saw Dave Matthews band there twice before they got big. My roomate worked there and convinced me to come to the show. First time was free with maybe 10 people there. A few weeks later it was $3 with double the people. They took off soon after.

Also saw Hum twice, Tripping Daisy, Self, Deep Blue Something, Toadies, North Mississippi All stars with T Model Ford and many more.

It was amazing...and no one shot ,much less kept, spoonbill or scaup. Now that plus a few teal is good limit of ducks. It's sad how far it's fallen

Will call today. Thanks for the rec!
All,

Anyone know or recommend a turkey guide either in or close to the hill country for early April? That would be Fredericksburg, Boerne, New Braunfels, Johnson City, Dripping Springs, Kerrville, etc.

The idea is to have a "base" house for the wife and kids to go shop/tour/sight see while dad and I go try to get on a gobbler. He's 80 so DIY probably isn't an option.

Any help or input is very much appreciated!!
