Shout out to Tre Morgan
Posted by SMIB Tiger on 7/23/25 at 1:22 am
We took our son to the Durham Bulls game Tuesday night for his birthday. He wanted to see Tre Morgan play (got to see Jacob Berry too) and get a baseball card signed by him.
I was very impressed with how he carries himself.
Before the game, Tre interacted with the fans and signed autographs for several kids. He was one of a few to do so. Our son was decked out in his gold LSU home baseball jersey. It was neat see Tre take a couple of seconds to give him a quick shout out on the jersey while he signed his card.
Our seats were right by the Bull's dugout and our daughter made a sign that said, "Hey Tre it's my bro's birthday". She held it up while they were jogging off the field in between innings during the game. Not only did he acknowledge the sign, he went in the dugout and came back out with a baseball. He tossed it to our son and gave him a smile.
I know those guys get hounded for attention. Heck, we were guilty of begging for it ourselves. But it's refreshing to see someone take the time to acknowledge it and be genuine in the interaction like Tre was tonight. They were simple things for him, but it meant the world to our kids.
Awesome job Tre!

Plight of the anti-vax crowd

I'm as anti-vaccine one can get. I've planted my flag and will be walking away from my job on Dec. 8 because I don't believe in it.
I'm curious as to the end game in store for "us" though. I admit I got fully suckered by the whole Q game. Not necessarily because I agreed with all of it, but I admired the passion and unity of the followers and the genuine belief it instilled that there wasn't just evil in the world.
Now, I wonder if this is just another shell game.
I'm curious if the vaccine is to identify the sheep. Maybe it was never intended to protect against Covid, but against what comes next to wipe out "us"...the non-sheep.
Maybe I'll have my wife take the jab just in case so someone sticks around, hahaha! Me and the kids are on the hill.

Just curious, has anyone else seen this ad pop as a "Site Sponsor"?
If not, I guess my NSFW Google searches are selling me out.

re: Hunting/Fishing Close Calls
Posted by SMIB Tiger on 9/9/21 at 4:58 pm to Loup
Trout fishing the Clinch River in East Tennessee on MLK holiday weekend a few years back.
Air temp was in the 20s and water temp was in the 30s. The TVA was running 2 generators off the dam at Norris Lake so the water was moving pretty dang fast.
We flipped our canoe and went head first into the water, after nearly being snagged by lures stuck in a tree.
Thank the Lord we were able to swim to shore with the canoe, climb back in and paddle 1/2 a mile back to our cabin. We lost all our gear and feeling in our fingers for the rest of the weekend. We were covered in ice.
After a trip to Wal Mart, we replenished our supplies and slayed trout the rest of the weekend.

re: What are your doctor friends saying about Covid?
Posted by SMIB Tiger on 7/28/20 at 3:30 pm to Tridentds
Around these parts, doctors are saying that from a respiratory standpoint it can be mild or severe, just like any other respiratory infection but is typically worse on the elderly or obese as others have said.
Their biggest concern is the increase in the amount of strokes they are seeing, which are not age specific and are occurring in people that are testing positive for COVID but are asymptomatic.
