Be wary of the search results on PowerToChoose, as retailers game them with teaser rates that lead you to overpay if you don’t read the fine print and do the math. Do-it-yourselfers can try TexasPowerGuide as a better way to search those same plans.
And don’t be afraid of discount providers. Many of them are just alternate/value brands of the same corporate parent (i.e. NRG owns Reliant, Green Mountain, Cirro, Xoom, and Pennywise). No company you can pick has anything to do with your electricity reliability --- that’s Centerpoint’s job.
