Any Lake Boudreaux fishing reports?

Posted by makoman82 on 6/24/16 at 9:33 pm
Anyone been lately with any report?
It has gotten ridiculous the amount of "fund raisers" outside of Wal-marts in general. Every single time I shop there it is some other group. Me and my wife do not "give/support" groups in this way. We have a few charities we contribute to. If we want girl scout cookies or some candy we have plenty of friends kids or our kids to support through. Very aggravating when they even say "its for the kids" when we tell them no thanks. We have plenty of avenues to support kids through other than donations to strangers kids. Sorry, just the way it is. I don't need to be hassled outside a walmart to donate money when every single kid we know has a fundraiser themselves.

Get the business first. Just do not advertise you are insured if you aren't yet. Nothing wrong with telling them you are enacting insurance and will be fully insured prior to working in their property. Go ahead and get your insurance quotes now. Most are good for 45 days and can be put into place the same day you tell them to. Get a client first then pull the trigger.
If you don't pay this (or clear it up), your current state will eventually find out. States do share this info, albeit very slowly. Eventually they will get a code in their system and you won't be able to renew or get a new license in your state until it's cleared in LA. Happened to me from an old fine in TX last time I went to renew my LA license. They didn't know what it was for only a code and a number to call in TX. Luckily it was less than $100 I owed to TX, so rather than spend time on it I paid it and it was cleared. Had to be at least 2 years old of whatever fine it was.
Amazon Prime is great if you shop online. Just the free shipping alone is worth it. I just got a $275 AGM auto battery for my F-150 for $100 and it shipped free in 2 days.

Also not known a lot is if you have a *.edu email address you can get Amazon Student. It has the same benefits of Prime, but the free trial is for 6 months then its half price for the next 4 years.
Absolutely possible. If you somehow get it started, dont turn the car back off until you have a new battery in hand.

The 2 1/2 day trips are awesome. I would recommend going with Joka's Wild though out of Biloxi. I grew up with that family and they have been doing it a long time. Captain George designed and built the boat himself and its like a yacht. Cant beat the crew and Captain George either. LINK

re: Raised bed Garden problem

Excellent info Hog. I was worried about the sun amount. Its the best place in the back yard really. I think it will get more sun as the summer progresses but maybe not that much more. I may just be doomed. Going to try and test the soil anyway I guess and see if it needs modifying. Really wanted a nice little garden this year...seemed on track nicely at first and then downhill...

Hey everyone. I posted that this morning, then got busy and was only just now able to read the responses. Thanks everyone for the feedback. I think I will try and get the soil tested. I was also thinking soild PH was off due to the amount of organic material. I got the mix of ingredients from a concept called "square foot gardening". Google it its amazing what these people get out of a small raised bed. As for me...not doing so well!

Raised bed Garden problem

Posted by makoman82 on 5/1/13 at 11:00 am
So I built an 8x4 raised bed and it is filled with about 1/2 organic forest floor compost and Miracle grow garden soil mix, 1/4 peat hummus, and 1/4 topsoil. I put in a mix of small veggies from Lowes (tomatos, squash, eggplant, bell peppers) and some from seed (corn, okra, broccoli). I planted all this before good friday and during the Easter cold snap most of it got killed. I replanted most of it a week after that and it has done terrible as well with the plants dying and turning yellow. The Okra and corn seedlings that sprung up got about 4 inches tall and have been stunted since. The garden gets about 6 hours of sun a day. Could my soil mix be a problem? Any ideas?

What makes a Mako Man dive off and get a Carolina Skiff?

Gas prices mainly! Just the cost of offshore fishing has gone up so much since I had my Makos. Plus this boat will be perfect for getting my young sons more involved in fishing.

Actually looked at the Mako Skiff but for the same cost it didnt compare imo.

Great and thanks. Did some crabbing with my neighbor in Point Aux Chene...is anywhere out there pretty good around the right features?

Red & Speck fishing Houma?

Posted by makoman82 on 4/8/13 at 2:47 pm
So I bought me a Carolina 16 JVX this weekend at the Gulfport boat show. I live in Houma now and trying to gradually get familiar with fishing in and immediately around. Any pointers on where to launch and head to for specks and reds? I grew up fishing for them in MS but not too familiar with this area and best methods.
