We just got back from snorkeling on the catamaran. Great fun. So far we have hit Chiquita Mar, Old San Juan and the snorkeling trip. Tomorrow is UTV in the rainforest and horseback riding on the beach. Friday is a helicopter tour. Still trying to decide what to do on Thursday and Saturday. We will likely hike in El Yunque one of those days. We may take a trip over to Culebra the other day. The kids really enjoyed snorkeling, so I’m thinking another day of might be good.

Decided to pull the trigger and risk it. We’re on day three in Puerto Rico and most everything seems to be operating normally. Some restaurants and shops are closed, but by and large, we have been able to do everything we wanted to do. All of our excursions are open.

They are strict on mask wearing. When we arrived at the airport, we anticipated a screening by the National Guard. However, they did not take our temperature. They did collect our names and phone numbers. The lack of a temperature check may have been a courtesy from the Guard, as I am clearly military. They did offer free COVID screenings but we declined.

Finally, diat150 is correct. There are sexy brown ladies everywhere.

TLDR: Come on in, the waters just fine.

Status of Puerto Rico

Greetings. I’m looking for on the ground intel about traveling to Puerto Rico right now. I have spoken to my hotel and they have indicated that the only travelers being quarantined are those who arrive with a fever. The government’s travel site indicates the possibility of quarantine even without symptoms.

Additionally, does anyone know if tourist type businesses are operating (snorkeling, zip lining, etc.)? I’m getting mixed answers from the internet and calling around.

Any response is greatly appreciated.
I don’t believe that you have a lot of options around Baton Rouge. Everyone I know from there that rides trails, hauls up to Central Louisiana, where we have a number of great trails.

You essentially have Camp Claiborne (Woodworth/Forest Hill), Camp Livingston (Pollock; about 20 minutes north of Alexandria), Cravens/Fullerton (South of Fort Polk near Pitkin), Sandstone (between Natchitoches and Leesville) and South Toledo Bend State Park (this is the only one that is state owned. The others are all in Kisatchie National Forest).

The U.S. Forest Service has a website that tells you if the the trails are open. LINK

Keep in mind that you have to stay on the trails unless your bike is plated for street use. They will ticket you if you ride on the blacktop or fire roads. Sometimes they close for maintenance or if there has been a lot of rain. All have various loops that range from 5 miles up to about 30. If you are new to bikes, start with Camp Livingston. It is the easiest. Sandstone is probably the most challenging. An added bonus to Camp Livingston is Hurricane MX track, which is just a few minutes away. You can ride both trails and a track the same day/weekend.

The national forest trails run about $5-7 a person, while the state park is around $15. You can also buy an annual pass to the national forests, or may qualify for a free pass it you have any VA disability. Hurricane MX is around $20. The people who run it are very friendly and have a Facebook page that they keep updated.

I’m happy to answer any questions you have.

Yes. It's a pretty reliable stream from my experience. It's much more reliable than previous generations of the app. I had to constantly restart it in the past.
