re: LSU Players Trash Talk

Posted by jcanfi2 on 12/29/19 at 3:54 pm to
Mentioned this to friends/family several times during the game. Seemed really odd for a defense that bad to talk so much crap in the game and to try to hit players without the ball and twist ankles after tackles the way their players did after every play. They deserve all the trash talking they get.
Brought my daughter to first game when she was 2 and they were basically handing out tickets. Made sure to bring a coloring book and a couple toys. Surprisingly she watched a good bit of the first quarter. Loved the pre-game of course. Made it to half. Thought that was pretty good at the time. She's gone to at least one game a season since. Always against an easier opponent. She's six now and actually knows enough to cheer when appropriate. Almost always makes it until the 4th quarter. But...may be too good at repeating what she hears.
Agree with your prediction. When you look at the offenses UGA has face thus far, the overall defensive rankings makes sense. The average total offensive ranking of UGA's opponents this season is 85th nationally, while LSU's opponents' average total offense ranks 68th nationally. That's not insignificant. Also, the best offenses LSU's faced rank 7th (Bama), 15th (Texas), and 31st (Ole Miss) nationally. Compare that to rankings in total offense of the best offensive teams Georgia has played this season: Arkansas State (44th), Notre Dame (47th), Auburn (53rd), and Florida (54th).
If you simply compare the CFP rankings to the AP and Coaches it's clear that they overvalued nearly all Big10 teams by a couple of spots on average. What's really telling is that they didn't overvalue Minnesota (the one team Ohio St didn't play) and they bumped Cincy up 1 to get them into the top 20, thus allowing them to now use the strength of schedule argument. They also undervalued Bama and Florida by about the same amount, devaluing LSU's strength of schedule. Under AP/Coaches, LSU has 2 wins over top 10 teams and Ohio State only has 1 (Wisconsin at 10). Under CFP Ohio State has 2 and LSU only has 1 (Florida).

Team CFP AP Coaches
Wisconsin 8 10 10
Penn State 10 12 11
Florida 9 7 7
Auburn 11 11 12
Bama 12 9 9
Michigan 14 17 18
Cincy 20 21 21

Actually spoke to him after game for a minute. He was being driven in golf cart near law school (presume he was heading to Lod Cook) and got stuck next to me in traffic. He said he was glad LSU blew them out since he'd given a pep talk. I asked if he could do the same 3 more times. He was clearly impressed with the team.
