re: Anyone on here Vegan or Vegetarian?
Posted by chhese007 on 8/17/25 at 8:23 pm to OMLandshark
I'm a vegetarian, not vegan. I have been one since I was a teenager, and now I'm in my 40s. Growing up in the deep south, you would think it would be tough or you would get picked on, but besides the recurring jokes from isolated close minded idiots, everybody from friends to work colleagues to random people I meet have all been supportive, cool, and always willing to discuss the differences in philosophies.
It's actually not hard at all, especially if you include all the ethnicities in your diet. "American" veggie food isn't very creative or healthy, but every other culture offers delicious, healthy, and an amazing spectrum of options. Whether it's Indian, Mexican, Thai, Chinese, Greek/Lebanese, Peruvian, Japanese, African, Haitian, Central American, Italian, German, etc etc etc, they all have so much variety, spice, and amazing taste.
My wife isn't vegetarian, but she's become moreso, maybe about 90% veggie since we got married. Our 3 young kids are not vegetarian, and we want them to decide what's best for them when they come of age.
To each their own...

Any Indian restaurant (Swagat), Thai (Chai Thai Lao) or Vietnamese (Pho Cafe) restaurants that has veggie options, also a real nice sit down place is Cocha. There are also some good Japanese and ramen places as well. There are actually really good places all around town that have good combos.

Who's better, Capella or Okongwu?Looks like Okongwu has a game better for today's NBA, as he's starting to shoot 3s, and looks to be more mobile and able to guard wings on the perimeter. This might complement Missi's and Zion's game better, and you would think we could pry him off the Hawks for Ingram.
Really interesting discussion Hawks were having about him last year.
LINK
He seems not a true stretch 5, but more of a good "starting to stretch 4.5", so he could also solve the backup to Zion problem, and not take too many minutes from Missi.

Seoul Tofu Korean Restaurant
LINK
Hot Stone bibimpap is the best thing here. We also got the kimchi pancake and the hot pot tofu soup. We love Korean food.
So much great (and affordable) food off the strip in Vegas.

Get a Kia Carnival. It's marketed as a MPV (multi-purpose vehicle), looks like an SUV, but is contrasted in the minivan class with a minivan like price. I had the same issue with my wife when we had baby number 3 coming...her not wanting a minivan and wanting an SUV instead. This was definitely a compromise winner for us. As a bonus, it has the highest consumer reports safety ratings in this class as well.

SUVs are horribly overpriced, Best of luck to you my friend...

Can you still purchase an undergraduate student ticket and get into the student section with your med/dental school ID?

religious reasons.
Curious....what religion does not allow anyone to eat meat?
Many of the Eastern religions (Hinduism, Jainism, Buddhism) have tenants of their faith that encourage vegetarianism.
I am a Jain, and one of our main doctrines is non-violence, and from that belief stems the belief of vegetarianism. I ate meat growing up, but once I was old enough, my parents let me make my own choice. It just seemed like the right decision for me.
I'm a vegetarian, have been since 7th grade, mostly for personal/religious reasons. Feels pretty good. Couldn't see myself ever going back.
