Grandkids if you've made any. Otherwise, just be with him and do what he used to enjoy if possible.

Prayers.
At PAC marina, the very end of hwy 665. I launch opposite from the actual boat launch as it points south.
Got attacked by chickens in a coop when I was 2. I remember the adults freaking out more than the poultry assault. The clearest memory is my grandpa chasing them with a belt, presumably as punishment but he may have just not liked chickens.
No standing. It's not even a fishing kayak, just a cheap sit-in built for casual cruising. Its cramped, but very light and easy to get around in. If you ever see me putting around the marsh, feel free to point and laugh.

I'm considering upgrading but if I'm willing to drop $1000+ on a nice kayak I'd just as soon spend a bit more on an old used boat so I could bring the kids along. Pros and cons to both obviously.

Thanks for your reply. Lots of good advice in this thread that I look forward to trying out.
This is true. Since my only luck has been with corks while staying still I'm reluctant to fish while I'm paddling or riding the current/tide, especially if I've had success at a particular spot in the past.

I understand the logic though.

I can appreciate that. On the last trip to Delacroix I finally found what people are talking about when they refer to "clear" water. I always thought that just meant less dirty than most but sure enough I found a large patch of crystal clear moving water surrounding a grass bed. Picked up a red there in about 5 minutes too.

Other than clarity I typically look for pockets and points where I can see action on the top. I try to time my trips for good tidal and solunar action but life isnt always so accommodating.

Thanks for the reply. Will definitely try one of these on the next outing.

How does that all tackle do in the weeds? I can see the hook is rigged "weedless" but the spinner and beads look like they would get caught in the grass pretty easily.

inshore fishing question

So I've taken up kayak fishing as new hobby since the wife and I bought a couple yaks earlier this year. I had never really fished before other than kid stuff but after a couple months of trial and error I'm now consistently bringing home a few redfish and the occasional black drum every trip. Mostly hitting delacroix, sometimes PAC.

I feel like i should be doing better based on what others claim to be catching. Everything I catch has been under a popping cork with live or dead shrimp. I typically throw the cork to one side of the boat and fish the other side with soft plastics on jigheads or weedless spoons. No luck at all with these lures regardless of color. Everything I'm reading says spoons across the grass beds should work but I get no strikes at all.

Just curious if anyone has any general advice.
I had some luck in the area northeast of the launch in july and august. Very little boat traffic once you head east off the canal and not a long paddle at all.
