After being a long-time AT&T customer (Suncom->Bellsouth->Cingular->AT&T), I finally got sick of their high price and failures during the flood and Ida. I initially swapped to Verizon, but I had MANY dead-zones in the BR area including at my work. I switched to T-Mobile and have been absolutely happy with it. I haven't experienced any holes in the Baton Rouge area.

re: What's your sweet spot for sleep?

Read up on Sleep Restriction Therapy. Basically, you go into slight sleep deprivation where your sleep efficiency becomes greater than 85%, then add time in bed by 15 min increments. It sucks when you first start, but it works.

That looks like space junk breaking up on re entry. Meteors are really fast and you miss them in the blink of an eye.

If you watch a satellite or the space station pass over it is much slower.

It was the latest batch of starlink satellites making their way up to their final orbit.
Saw it in BR. So bizarre looking trucking across the sky.
I'm not in Lake Charles, but I just switched this week, and so far so good. I had switched from AT&T to Verizon this past fall, but Verizon was crap where I work and recently got worse. Before switching, I borrowed a T-Mobile Hotspot from EBR Library and tested out the service in various places around town.

Verizon in St. Gabriel Area

Posted by MurpheyJT on 7/19/22 at 5:19 pm
Any ideas on what's going on with Verizon in the St. Gabriel area? The service was weak at the plant already, but data has been pretty much non-existent for the past couple months. T-Mobile hotspot seems to work well, so I may be making the switch soon.
Our troop just went to Skymont and my Jackery 300 was perfect for running the CPAP (humidity off = 11 watts) and charging phones/hotspot. I didn't buy the solar panels as most all scout camps have a charging station for the leaders. I charged my Jackery once mid-week and was good to go.

This sounds like a job for Microsoft One Drive TBH and not worry about dealing with hardware configuration and access.

This! You get 5TB for each userid.

Are y'all suggesting the Microsoft 365 Family plan for $100/yr? I see 1TB per user, not 5TB. While I am not against it, I'm a cheapskate and that seems a little overkill for what I'm looking for. Am I missing something?

Picture/Video Storage for Family

Posted by MurpheyJT on 1/3/22 at 12:04 pm
I'm looking for a storage solution for pictures & videos generated by multiple devices by the family. Would like to be able to access the pictures & videos from iPhone, Galaxy S10, Galaxy Tablets, and PCs on the network.

My router (Netgear Nighthawk) has a USB slot with their "ReadyShare" configuration in the settings, but I don't know anything about it. It appears to be a simple SMB share, but I'm not sure if iOS or Galaxy devices can access that.

I have my SHTF backups of everything on a couple of USB hard drives. This would be more for everyday access.

Should I purchase a USB drive and give ReadyShare a shot? Purchase some NAS? Purchase a cloud solution?

Everyone on Inniswold between Floynell and all the way to Jefferson have no power yet

We just got power!!! Inniswold & Oliphant

Me too. Hoping it turns Inniswold green soon. No work being done for 3 days. Thought we all will turn green at once

I just did a drive around. No one working in the neighborhood, and everything looks good to go. No one working at the substation, but there are guys there in the trucks. Hopefully they are waiting for something??? {Fingerscrossed}

Nope, not a damn clue. I was so hopeful as well.
Yep, I'm still out as well. Inniswold and Oliphant.
Latest word on the street is that they had to purchase equipment for either the substation on Jefferson or the transmission lines that come in and delivery is "a few days."
With all the generators running in IEJT, we could probably have our own power plant.

Hopefully we get power back by the last day of pool

Tim closed the pool for the year. He sent an email this morning.
Yesterday evening, there was a large crew working where the main lines come over Danbury and also at the substation on Jefferson Hwy. I believe that is the main feed to IEJT, so I hope that is a sign we are close. All of the broken poles / transformers that I saw in the neighborhood have been replaced by new poles & transformers.

Hearing conflicting reports for Jefferson Terrace area…both from neighbors who talked to lineman

1. Said late last night or today
2. Another said 2 more days at least.

Anyone hear anything solid? Both of these reports were from yesterday.

I am hearing similar...all hearsay of course. Someone talked to a lineman this morning, and they keep getting close to energizing, but keep finding small things to fix first. "Likely coming on today."

Map Bixby button to Page Down?

Posted by MurpheyJT on 1/23/21 at 3:11 pm
Long story short, I have been having visual issues with scrolling on the phone. I know how to map the Bixby button to open an app, but is there a way to map it to "page down" so that I can avoid scrolling?
Bug Soother (smell like lemon Pledge) or Victoria Secret Amber Romance (smell like a $5 whore). Never use Off or Repel as they are attracted to it.

I received my tuition refund check in the mail yesterday. Reports are all people who sent in a release form were issued checks also.

I'm still not stoked about the whole situation but glad to be made whole financially at least.

Same here. I went to the bank as fast as I could yesterday!
