Android did not assign a major release number to a few versions of the OS because they did not warrant it. Apple has given a major release number annually even when iOS did not evolve much.
It's just a different strategy of releasing software. Neither way of doing it is correct or wrong.
Also, Android is older than iOS. (September 23, 2008 vs February 2, 2010)

Instead of paying $200, you could purchase an ESU and continue to use Windows 7.
Seriously though, why are people still using an unsupported OS? Unless you have software that isn’t compatible with Windows 10, there’s no reason not to upgrade.
