We stayed at Al Sol Luxury Village (Cap Cana Marina), which was fairly nice. I'd recommend somewhere close to Bavaro Beach. Melia resort seems to be nice.
Just getting back from DR from a week long vacation.
The all-inclusive resorts are superb. I would suggest doing some excursions. LINK
Catalina Island
Saona Island
4 x 4 Buggy Tours
Snorkeling/Snuba/Speed Boating Excursions
I wouldn't recommend drinking their water.

Thanks for your advice. I have minimal professional experience. I've done a few internships here and there, an assistantship while in grad school, and I currently work full-time. I was just curious about the Baton Rouge public sector. It doesn't seem like much is avaiable in this area.

I have a semester of coursework to complete, and then I will have about 2 semesters left to complete the dissertation portion of my program. I do work full-time currently and I am also a full-time student, attending classes in the evening.
Thanks for your insight. However, I simply asked a question. If you must know, I often visit and utilize many career service offices and job boards. I network quite often, in both casual and business situations. My masters program offered many opportunities, most being in New Orleans, however, my preference at the moment is to live and work in Baton Rouge. I simply asked for insight because I find that this forum's participants are well-versed in giving meaningful advice, not snarky comments like your's assuming that I'm just being lazy.

Yes, I did an internship, but it was in New Orleans. I'm not from Baton Rouge, so I don't know many people here. All of my education and experience focuses on the policy side of education. I'm also open to working at local university, but that seems almost impossible.

Department of Education, more specifically. I am also interested in working with the Louisiana State Legislature. I'm interested in government in whole being that I have a masters in public administration and working on another degree in public policy.
That's what I'm starting to notice. :banghead:
Policy analysis, preferably, or nonprofit program management
Public Sector Jobs in BR

Can anyone give any insight on the best way to obtain a job in the public sector (nonprofit or local/state gov't) in Baton Rouge?
Unemployment benefits are only good for 26 weeks. After the benefits are exhausted, they have to wait until the claim year ends before they can file for anymore benefits. Extensions are not available since being cut by the federal government in December. When that employee files a claim, you can acutally dispute that claim if you feel they shouldn't receive the benefits. The max Louisiana pays is $247, however, it is not guaranteed the employee will receive the max. The min pay is $10. The max amount of benefits are based on a "base period", which are the four quarters prior to the quarter the claim is filed. For example, if your employee files a claim today, the base period would be April 2013-March 2014.
