The Texas A&M Aggies made the decision to fire head coach Jimbo Fisher despite being on the hook for nearly $80 million. And by doing that, they made him a hero to legendary coach Lou Holtz...
quote:

"But the $77 million, that’s an awful lot of money. I’ve got Jimbo Fisher’s picture above my bed," he said with a chuckle. "He’s my hero. He loses and gets $77 million to walk away. I never got a cent from any of the six schools where I coached when I left there. So, he is my hero. That’s great work."

"There is nothing at A&M that keeps them from competing for the national championship. They have a beautiful stadium, a great facility and an awful lot of money. They also have a tremendous student body," Holtz said.

I believe I'd a hired a new agent after 3 or 4 schools.

Coach Holtz is 86 and has $20 million. I'm guessing he has enough to reach the finish line.

That was not shade at Jimbo. Notre Dame asked him to leave to save a previous coaches win record.
He's a bit upset at all the money thrown into the fire that he didn't get.

He did a thing on CBS, if I recall, like Lou's Take or Lou's Thoughts, something like that. That was pretty decent.
