Yep, Ryan Lochte got in big trouble for posting the above picture. The 12-time Olympic medalist, swimmer Ryan Lochte, has been suspended for 14 months after receiving an intravenous infusion without a therapeutic use exemption, the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency announced Monday.

Wait a min "receiving an intravenous infusion without a therapeutic use exemption"...so do you have to apply for this exemption before the infusion? So if he goes into the hospital... and needs an IV, do they have to apply for this exemption before he can have an IV?

As much as I dislike Twiter and Instagram etc. for the social fabric ruffling they've been a part offor the last decade, I have to say, they've been a really good means of separating the idiots from the rest of us. They like evolutionary tools that out the weak links.

I'd hardly call this "suspended for doping". So much is labeled "doping" and "cheating" now. This guy took a vitamin via an IV drip bag. These doping agencies are a scam and it's funny that Americans seem to be the only ones playing by their rules.

yep this isn't doping. He's not smart and didn't understand the rule, otherwise he wouldn't; post a pic of himself doing it. It's god dang vitamins. Dude trains a gazillion hours a day.

It's not "doping" in the traditional sense, but it 100% is against the rules. That's the whole point. Taking an IV is a medical procedure to increase performance past what your body could do on it's own. You are using "medical procedures" to hydrate yourself faster/more efficiently than it could without it. Same rules apply to any local marathon or triathlon. Not really enforced on your typical age grouper, but it could be. I know this......so he should definitely know this.

@KG6 - sure by the letter of the law. However, what he took flushes out of his body within a few days. I don't know but was this before a competition? If not, who the hell cares?! Maybe he wanted to hydrate up before a binge fest weekend of booze on a yacht?

he's an idiot but what a dumb fricking rule. Banana bag.......basically thiamine, normal saline, folic acid and mag sulfate. basically vitamins and minerals. so yes, he took a multivitamin. Lighten up fuuuuuuuuck........that said, Lochte is a supreme dbag
