As well all know, the XFL has a few different rules than the NFL. South Carolina head coach Will Muschamp thinks one of those rules, their approach to kickoffs, will eventually be adopted by college football...

In the XFL, the kicker is situated at the 30-yard line. His coverage unit, however, is on the opposing 35-yard line while the return team is mostly lined up at their 30 yard line – just five yards apart.
Would you want to see kickoffs like this in college football?

It certainly makes an onside kick pretty much impossible. Address that somehow and maybe you're on to something.

They already have. The kicking coach tells the refs that they want an onside kick attempt, and the play goes as normal. The surprise onside kick is what gets nixed.

that would make for one helluva onsides kick attempt at the end of a close game.
