It's honestly not talked about enough, IMO, how a door mat of a football program like Indiana rose to the top last year. Cignetti deserves a ton of credit, and I really don't think many college coaches in history could've pulled that off.

That said, there's a lot more parody in the sport than there's ever been. Top teams don't have the depth and all around talent like they used to.

I think IU has a pretty good QB in Hoover to replace Mendoza, but I think they'll come back to earth this season.

He did it by taking JMU's entire roster and playing a full cupcake schedule in year 1 and boat raced by the only 2 good teams they played. Returned almost everyone and made an outstanding pickup at QB with Mendoza. When the avg age of your college football team is 23 years old and most are returners, then you are probably going to have a good season. He's a good coach and was ahead of the curve on older portal players. It'll be interesting to see if it's sustainable for IU.
