CFP Chair Warde Manuel Discusses Gap Between Texas, Georgia In Latest Rankings

Following the latest release of the College Football Playoff rankings on Tuesday, committee chair Warde Manuel was asked about the difference between Texas and Georgia. Per SDS:

Georgia has a head-to-head win over the Longhorns, but the Bulldogs rank 7 spots lower in the latest committee rankings. Texas stayed put at No. 3 this week while Georgia moved up to No. 10 following its big over Tennessee.

Manuel pointed to Texas’s entire “body of work” as the reason for the rankings gap.

“Well, obviously Georgia has a very good win at Texas, but as the committee analyzed the body of work of Texas versus where Georgia is at the present time with 2 losses, even to top-25 teams, we came out that Texas was still a very strong team deserving of a 3 seed,” Manuel said. “They have a top-5 defense. Quinn Ewers is leading one of the top passing offenses in the country.

“We just looked at them and thought — and came out, I should say, with them at 3. It’s nothing against Georgia. Georgia is a great team, but they did struggle against Ole Miss at Ole Miss but had a great win this past week against Tennessee. We will continue to monitor both teams and see how it goes in the next few weeks.”

Just say we looked at the brand and number of losses. That’s really all the casual fan understands so we used that as our metric and pretty much ignored the rest.

Lmao I personally don't care but it's almost worth it seeing everyone cry about it everyday. all day. Perhaps if you didn't lose the teams like Kentucky and Arkansas the other teams at the top wouldn't have this to be crying about

I think they're just making this shite up as they go. How many top 25 wins does Texas have? Zero. How many top 25 wins does UGA have? Three. So much for your body of work.

What exactly does body of work mean to this guy?

Clearly it isnt quality wins.

Clearly it isnt strength of schedule.

Clearly it isnt head to head.

So what I think body of work means obviously isn't what it means to this guy.
