Wrapping Up A Week At Bald Head Island, NC

This was our first family vacation here and it’s been great. Definitely a hidden gem. Probably our new second-favorite beach vacation destination. Kauai is and always will be #1.

Bald Head Island is one of the few amazing under the radar places on the planet that the Instagram wifeys haven’t found out about and blasted to the world. Shhhhhh!

It’s definitely well known in my neck of the woods. But the fact that it takes a little effort to get to and rentals on the island are pricier makes it more under the radar.

Secluded, uncrowded, relaxing, dog-friendly, beautiful beach vacation destination with a surprising amount of beach, maritime forest and saltwater marsh diversity on such a small island. Fishing and hiking were great, golf was fantastic, surfing was achievable multiple days, grocery store was small but surprisingly adequate, and shopping was good enough to keep my wife and daughters happy for the week. Did I mention the beaches are not crowded even though this is the busiest time of the year on the island?

Weekend at Bernie’s was filmed there.
I’ve been there once, 29 years ago. No cars on island. You catch a ferry over. Every beach house comes with a golf cart.

Bald Head is awesome. Love the golf carts and no cars.
