I misunderstood the cab driver in Italy when he said “90 euros” as saying “19 euros”...made for an awkward stop at the ATM. Foreign transaction fees on both sides later, I ended up paying about $140 for a cab ride.

Ya, the yellow fever thing can be tricky.

South Africa has a similar rule. We were connecting in Ethiopia which is on their risk list. Went ahead and got the shot because if anything happened where I got stuck in Ethiopia past 72 hours the vacation would be totally blown as I'd be sent back, probably to Ethiopia.

Relying on my backpacking friend for her Spanish skills. Upon arriving in Seville, we decided to make reservations for the night train to Madrid. My friend confidently reserved a train for nueve. Problem is Spain uses the 24 hour clock. Instead of taking a loss on the cost of reservations, we ran for the soon to be departing train. Only thing we did in Seville was use the train station bathroom, so I tease my friend that I didn't do crap in Seville but she did.

When I travel to new places, I go solo so I can see everything I want to see and take as much time as I want. The only time I will travel with others is to places I have already been.

Missed a first class direct flight from Phoenix to Dulles. Somehow misread my departure time. Had to fly coach back via ORD and it became a hideous travel day.
