The other day the wind shifted a ton of it to the beach right by Mia. It was cleaned up quickly though. Was odd seeing pictures of it on North Beach. I've never seen it in eight trips there. Nothing like Cancun and Tulum get.

We also did this tour, it was on Friday night...it was VERY humbling.

Eating the best molé I've ever had in that makeshift school room was quite the experience.

This year seems really bad. I think last year was relatively light.

We are in Fort Lauderdale and it's terrible. Water is clear but beaches are covered. Doesn't stink like the times it's been bad in Mexico.

Oh shite. We also ate mole in that school room. I'm bringing school supplies every trip. I had no idea some lived like that on the island. I mean that lady was nice. But when Jose had us go down that sketchy dead end alley our group was paranoid. Then go into a building made out of wood scraps that wouldn't even pass as a shed in the states.
But it's amazing that poor kids in Mexico don't have school. If they can't afford school they depend on people who do things like that. Like teach school in a shack. I did see there is a push to build them a proper school paid for by tourist donations. But yeah. That school house changed how I view the island. I felt bad that i consider it a cheap vacation. Yet there are kids there in a level of poverty I can't imagine.

And it was easily the best mole I ever had.

IF you take the time to speak with the people that live there you'll quickly learn that there is a caste like system on the island between the haves and the definitely do not haves.

Was it the bike food tour? Going for one day and want to see if it’s worth it.

I did the golf cart tour.
They had seven stops. All tours include Jose's wife who made us emanadas. Then we got elote in a cup. Then the mole with horchata. Then we stopped for micheladas. Then got whole hogfish. Then stopped for tacos mixtas. The last stop was flan. . Half of the stops are people's houses. Half are businesses.
The tour guide paid each stop in pesos.
It was worth it and I'll likely do one every trip. They have the walking tour, bicycle, golf cart and Sunday dinner tour. I thought the amount of food was worth it and food is much better in the south part of the island than off Hidalgo.
