We did 4 days in Rome, including the Sposi Novelli and all that that entails, so basically 3.5 days, and it was enough to hit all of the mainstream spots. I would have preferred another day to visit places off the beaten path.

We stayed in an AirBnB in Trastavere, and would certainly do that again.

Where should I stay if my wife and I want to do the keys tour?

We are flying in Sunday morning, so we will have some part of the day, though lag will likely knock that out. We are doing the tour Monday morning then leaving Rome. Any recommendations on places to stay around Vatican City or places to eat? Any must dos or sees before we leave?

I highly recommend Ristorante Abruzzi. It was recommended to me by a friend who was living in Rome and said it was the best Carbonara in Rome. I have no idea if it was the best in Rome, but it was the best we had while there, because my wife tried it everywhere we went
