I couldn't give two-fricks if people have an issue with my travel habits. Family, or not...

I mean, but is it really /thread?
The question was what do they think, not what do you think about what they think.

I prefer to eat what the locals eat instead of eating lobster in a five star restaurant.
Can’t you do both? One Michelin star restaurant and eat like the locals. To me, that’s the best trip.
Agreed. We usually make a reservation at an upscale-fancy place one night and the rest of the time we ask locals where we should go.
Sometimes that pizza joint is awesome and has a great beer selection, but that two star Michelin experience is also something the wife and I will always remember.

Don't want to do both. When I get to my destination, my main objective is to get as far away from the cities as I can. But that's just what we like to do. However, I understand why others may want to do that.

It depends where we are. On an island I want to eat locally the entire trip. If it’s a European trip a mix is fine. Generally the food isn’t that much different. Some of the best meals I’ve had were in little Tuscan towns that only had one restaurant.

F&F think we go to exotic places and stay at fancy resorts. That's not wrong. But we don't travel frequently so when we go somewhere we tend to go to really nice places and more often than not it's a beach. Most recent was a boat charter in BVI but that's a whole other story of a deal too good to pass up.
That said we're able to regularly charge significant business expenses to credit cards and accumulate lots of points/miles. And, no kids.
