Going back to the Big Island and thinking about visiting Pearl Harbor one day. Obviously we’d take a flight that morning to Honolulu and leave that evening to fly back to KOA. Looking at going to the park that morning and then maybe going to Waikiki Beach and getting something to eat before heading back. Question should we rent a car or catch a ride. I know Uber is readily there unlike the other islands? Also, how long should we plan for the park? Really want to go there but don’t want to visit Oahu for a trip.

If you were just gonna do Pearl Harbor, I would say an Uber would be fine but if you want to also go to Waikiki Beach, just trying to car for the day. If you’re looking for somewhere to eat between Pearl and Waikiki, I recommend Nico’s Pier 38. That being said, if you do either the Missouri or the aviation museum in addition to the Arizona you’re looking at probably 5 to 6 hours just at Pearl Harbor. What we’ve recently done was got there about 9 AM with an 11 AM reservation for Arizona. Once we got back from the Arizona we went to the car and ate some sandwiches and went back to tour the EV Asian museum. after that, we went and had An early dinner. You would definitely want to take the earliest flight possible and start at Pearl making sure you have a reservation for the Arizona Memorial.

I just got back from Oahu. I spent from 845 until 4 pm at Pearl Harbor. In that time we were able to do the Arizona Memorial and the USS Missouri.

The Arizona takes about an hour from the time you line up.

15 minutes in line, 15 minute ferry, 15 minutes at the memorial and 15 minutes back.

The welcome center can take time as well (an hour or two should be sufficient) but the big one would be an individual choice with how much time to spend at either the aviation museum or the Missouri.

You could rush through them in an hour or so but I think 2 hours for each is more appropriate.
