We will arrive on afternoon of June 7. Leave the 9th for Florence. Other the Doge Palace is there anything we need to get tickets to see? They are having a huge boat regalia that Sunday so will try to see that. We are staying in an Airbnb near train station.

We woke up early one morning and just meandered. Came to a lot of dead ends at canals and buildings, but was great to see the city while it was quiet and sleeping. Made our way to the Rialto Fish market and then back through the shops and stopped and had cicchetti and espresso. Not really a particular place, but it was one of our favorite parts of our stay there.
We did a tour of St. Mark’s Basilica and the Doge’s Palace. The paintings and rooms were amazing. They were more impressive than the Sistine Chapel IMO.
We were only there for an afternoon and a morning, so we didn’t get to leave the island, but I know a lot of people like Murano and Burato.
Enjoy your trip. We loved Venice. We also stayed near the train station which was clutch. No carrying around bags and was able to get from and to the hotel and train super easily.

There's another museum opposite the entrance to St. Mark's, but I can't remember the name. It wasn't expensive, and we got tickets there. Lots of old artifacts, maritime relics (guns, ship parts, armor) along with sculptures and such. We took paid the additional few euros to to to the upper floors of St. Mark's where you can go outside on the balcony and take pics of the square. You buy those inside the basilica at a separate counter.
Depending on the weather, you may want to pay for the elevator to the top of the bell tower to get a great view of the entire island and surrounding islands.
You can usually book gondola rides ahead of time and save some money.
Be sure to pop inside every small church you see, They are all spectacular.
Heve fun!

Venice is a good place to wander. Maybe a little morning trip to Burano or Murano. I like Venice.
Especially after dark when the cruise tourist hordes are gone, its pretty lovely

Tickets for the vaporetto, will save your feet.
One of the more underrated items I enjoyed was the naval museum in Venice. They have a ton of cool historical items, Museo Storico Naval but you need a ticket it's like 10 Euro.

Museo Fortuny
Torcello for an off the beaten path island with a rare Byzantine Church (Eastern Orthodox).
Save yourself a lot of time being lost and pick up a tourist map at the RR station info desk.
