Trying to wrap my head around the cost of flights to Asia

If I fly to Tokyo - OKC-DFW-Haneda (HND), and fly the same route back home: business class is around $15k.
If I fly to Tokyo: OKC-DFW = Economy, the rest is Business: DFW-HND, then fly HND-SGN (Saigon for 2 nights of debauchery), then SGN back to HND-DFW-OKC, the cost is $8.2k.
1) How tf does that make sense?
2) Are flights to Europe at the same level of schizophrenia?

Don't fly business if you can't afford it

I just bought round trip business to Bangkok, through Tokyo and connecting first at DFW, for less than $5k. For February. Weirdly, my tiny home airport which is usually very expensive - was way cheaper than originating at DFW. Try looking at alternative routes, and lots of them. Airline pricing is weird.
ETA - Start by looking at Zipair in and out of NRT to LAX as your base. I flew Zipair one way from NRT to LAX this spring for less than $1,000, one way. They are JAL's budget airline and the business class was very good.

My company pays for it but the seating classification should equate too. Changing the 1 hour economy flight OKC-DFW to business adds 3k. Why?

Because they can. Travelers out of OKC have fewer options than someone traveling from DFW. It has always been more expensive to travel from smaller airports instead of larger ones.
Even living in AUS which has direct service to Europe, I find it cheaper to position to NYC/ORD/IAD on a separate ticket and then book my TATL flight from there.

Check tickets to Asia from LA, SFO, & SEA and book that separately from OKC to the coast. You’ll find much cheaper fares.
I do the same thing from ATL to Europe. I check flights from NYC, BOS and MIA which are typically much cheaper Biz Class than ATL.

I booked a flight 2 months ago from Dallas to Shanghai through Seoul on American.
It was $1700 for coach, $11,000 for business class. An hour after I booked it I went on the American app and it said I had upgrades available. I upgraded to business class for $700 total for the two long flights.
