Cool. I know that no matter where I choose to go someone will tell me “but you have to see…” and I get why.

I appreciate it. Kauai sounds amazing. That’s where Jurassic park was filmed so I heard.

Your boys are likely to go stir crazy on Lanai. There's little to do or see.

We spent 14 days on the Big Island back in 2021.

It was an amazing experience.

We Air BnB'd the whole trip staying at hotels on the first and second to last day. Stayed 2-3 days on each portion of the island (Kona, Waikaloa Village, Volcano [stayed an extra day here was awesome hiking], Pahoa, and South Kona.

I also spent a night at an Airbnb in Volcano, and it was great to see the glow off Kilauea at night and to have extra time in the national park. Too many people only stay on the west coast of the Big Island and miss out on the chance to truly appreciate the volcanoes and the national park, because they have to spend at least 2 hours driving each way from their hotel.

yup we knew going into it that Big Island has awesome geographical diversity, so we made sure to move our launching point every couple of days to make it easier for us to explore.
