Trip this week out of NOLA.
Post hurricane and Covid,
What time to do I need to get there to get through security? Don’t have precheck.

Also as an aside best place to park to leave car? Don’t mind paying a extra for convenience.

1.5-2 hours before your flight just to account for a slow security line.

I flew in and out of New Orleans last weekend. If you are TSA-Pre, about 5 minutes to get through security. If you aren't, it may take you 15 minutes. Hardly anyone at the airport because very few airlines are flying in and out of New Orleans right now. Southwest cut way back. Their terminal was almost a ghost town.

Eat and drink before you go. MSY is a ghost town.

Hour and fifteen mins before your flight should be plenty.

To follow up for anyone flying out soon:
We flew out on a Tuesday morning. Parked in short term lot on the fourth floor, because we were running late. Self checked luggage at Southwest. Security was easy and spent more time in line at Starbucks for my wife’s coffee.
When we got back on Saturday, again there were no lines coming in to security. And after using the bathroom, our luggage was already at baggage claim, a far cry from the old days at MSY. In the car on the way home, in less than twenty minutes. Couldn’t have been a better airport experience. Parking short term was a little expensive, and I know there were cheaper options, but can’t beat the convenience.
1:15 is plenty of time.

I flew out Monday morning (parked at the new US park Veterans Lot 7). I had to get my eyes scanned for my first time using Choice but I’m not sure that even saved me much time as the lines were short. Came back tonight at 9:20 and you’re right, ghost town. Bags flew to claim and I was gone

Rolling out Sunday morning to Napa. Haven’t flown since the second week of September. It was deserted then post storm, hoping it’s not too bad this weekend.

Last week I had a quick 24 hour trip to Virginia, parked in short term garage. Cost me nearly $50 to park! Have a 1 week trip coming up, think I'll elect for the long term lot this time. I think they have some surface parking that's walkable to the terminal?

Long term isn’t much cheaper $20 a day vs $22 for short term. I think the walkable surface lot is $18 and the old lot at the old terminal is $12 a day.
