Take a different train to a different hood each day. Brown line to Lakeview, North Center, Ravenswood and Lincoln Square. Irving Park stop will get you in walking distance to quite a few breweries. The brown line back into downtown is worth it alone.

Down for one of those hoods. Staying pretty far out Naperville or something.

Heading to the the FLW museum right now. Aviary tonight. Want to hit a Italian Beef place (Jonnnies unless someone recommends otherwise).

Tomorrow doing Fields Museum in the morning, then looking for something. Dinner back in Naperville, but a neighborhood to check out would be perfect. Have been through Wicker Parkin the past.

Thursday leave late, 10pm or so, but have the late afternoon architecture tour planned.

Ah got ya. If you're doing Field Museum in the morning, you might just want to stay down there.

It's going to be extremely hot tomorrow. Don't underestimate it if you're from LA. It can feel quite different when you're out and about downtown.

You're going to the Aviary tonight so I'm guessing budget is not a concern. That neighborhood you're going to be in is the West Loop and is the trendiest nightlife district. For daytime drinks you could check out Kaiser Tiger or the rooftop of the TimeOut market. I would also second the earlier suggestion of hanging out on the Riverwalk at Tiny Tap or The Northman.

With the heat tomorrow and it being Wednesday I don't think any of the neighborhoods will be too active tomorrow during the day.

If you’re coming this week, go to a beach. I feel like that’s a Chicago experience not many tourists get.

If OP does a beach, need to be deliberate about which one he goes to... Montrose is awesome, and 100% worth checking out early Friday AM for Friday Swim Club (find them on IG), and Oak Street Beach is really well put together with a fun beach bar. However, there are others worth avoiding - North Ave is chalked with trashy people on the weekends; there is a reason cops are camped under the bridges from Lincoln Park.

Pretty much anything other than North Ave beach. I like Hollywood Beach best, but it would be quite the trek from downtown. I was going to suggest Friday Swim Club but I can't imagine a tourist making it there that early and I suspect it will be shut down soon.

All moot anyway as it looks like they're gone Thursday night.

Always enjoy the area near Shedd in the evenings for some of the best views of city and to just relax or go walking
