Think about planning a Sunday to Tigers for Tomorrow in Attalla, AL.
Dude! We were going to stop by on the way back yesterday but we ended up shooting over to her parents in Anniston. We are going to go soon though. We've never been.

Have you been to Little River? We went at the beginning of fall this year. Really neat place to drive and take in the views at all the stopping points.
I have not, but I am going to check it out soon.

Well rather on the south side of the mountain.
Cool, Homewood here.

Chattanooga has become our go to weekend trip.
I hadn't been in years, and my gf hadn't been since she was a child, and we really enjoyed it. We will be returning very soon. I want to get a small group and rent some cabins in Cloudland Canyon in the future.

If you get a chance check out Live A Little Chatt. It's a tiny home community with three houses. The host is a great guy and the houses are a cool weekend retreat for couples.

Think I spent $130/night labor day weekend.

We went to the light expo at Rock City on Saturday evening, and I am glad that we got in there early, and got out quick because the line to get in was wrapped down there mountain. Seemed like thousands of people showed up for that. It was okay, but never doing that again.
Probably saw each other at some point. We got there around 5:30 and left around 8:30. It can be hit or miss up there with crowd, but we go every year. I figured it wasn't going to bad since the forecast was so cold. It got pretty busy going up the mountain when we were coming down. Since it closes at 9, was surpised people were still trying to get up there so late.

I highly recommend the Maple Street Biscuit for breakfast

There are much better breakfast places.
Bluegrass grill on main Street is fantastic, but get there early.
Blue Plate, you can get the Aretha Frankenstein's pancakes without having to wait 1.5 hours like you would at Aretha Frankenstein's
Beast and Barrell. They cure their own bacon and sausage in house and have pretty good other food too.
Bitter Alibi. Great little spot with good brunch.
Flying Squirrel. Usually pretty packed and I wouldn't recommend their food for dinner, but they have pretty good brunch for a little hipster spot.

I choose Maple Street because by nature I am not a fan of a large breakfast. I can run in there with no line and get a fantastic biscuit and coffee. It works for me.

When Maple Street first opened, their biscuits were the size of cabbage balls.
I noticed they were significantly smaller last I went.

Good lord! I would not finish it if they were that large. It's a healthy serving as is, IMO. Though, I have only recently been traveling to Chattanooga in the last year so I can not compare to their old biscuits.

quote:So you work for the TVA? I've rafted the Ocoee many times in the past but on my way to the Saints game in Carolina I noticed a river in NC that seemed similar and the take out appeared to be located in a little village-like area. Was that the Nantahala and how does it compare to the Ocoee as far as thrills? It was late September and it seemed busy and more festive than the Ocoee.
Ocoee is pretty cold now. Plus we aren't recreational releasing next weekend.

Nantahala is a blast, but it’s a lot more beginner than Ocoee. A lot of people just rent the ducky kayaks. Unless the water is unusual there is only one big drop. It’s a great area though, lots of fly fishing back that way as well. Lots of awesome hikes. I’m a big fan of that area of WNC.

Check out Rembrandt's in the Art District. I'm not a huge fan of a big breakfast as well, but they have a good assortment of baked goods and other traditional breakfast options as well. Sitting outside on the courtyard overlooking the Tennessee River and Lookout Mountain is pretty great.

I thought that their dinner food was pretty awesome, but to each his own.

I suppose it has been a couple years since I ate there in the evening. All I remember was way over priced small plates that had a very small amount of food.

You've got a point here. I guess I'm used to that these days, unfortunately. The food was very tasty though.

It's still the same, the food is decent, just not much of it at all for a high price.

I was the guy who looked like he was freezing his nuts off
but yeah, I was kind of shocked at how many people showed up for that thing. It looked like gameday traffic after an Alabama game. The lights were neat though.

Did you check out Buck's Pocket? Terrific area to hike and picnic. Look over the edge and see Little River way down below.
