Things in New Orleans this week?

Anything in particular going on this week? I have a convention starting tomorrow. My family will be doing the Zoo/Aquarium/Insectarium/Children's Museum while I work. Anything else easy to get to downtown that they should do? Particular restaurants? I'm personally partial to the Irish House, Felix's, Dragos and Willie Maes

It's summer now so not many festivals and such. I would suggest for sure they go out to City Park one day. They can even take the street car ride to the park.
Try to go early to get ahead of the heat. There is a coffee and beneit place with a play ground nearby. Just a short walk to a 36 hole neat mini golf place, huge sculpture garden, mini amusement park, and a place with bike rentals of all kinds and paddle boats.
There is a really nice new Children's Museum being built out there, but will not open for a few more months.
As for the food, go post for suggestions with what kind of stuff you like.
To be honest, your list isn't all that great and I think Irish House has closed.

If you are uptown or don't mind leaving the Quarter I would recommend Jacque-Imo's on Oak St for a Dinner

rish House,
Long closed, sorry.
Your family group might enjoy going to Auction House Market, a food hall with a bunch of different options under one roof. Everyone can try something different.

Not really. Essence starts on July 4th. Will be a pretty slow week and weekend

Thank you for the Auction House rec, very good and good variety, we just left there.
We ate at Parkway Poor Boys last night, and stayed close at Dragos the 1st night
I'd be the size of a house if I lived here lol

Essence Festival is July 4th weekend
Zoo can get really hot this time of the year but they do have some water features to cool you down
Mardi Gras World if you have a vehicle to cross the river
Steamboat river cruise

I’m passing through for a week in Gulf Shores. Having dinner at Restaurant R’evolution tonight.

Mardi Gras World is same side of river as the zoo. It’s next to the convention center
