The cold continent and back again

Taking the Viking Octantis from Ushaia to Antarctica and back. Started this voyage a few days ago.
Day 1 Travel: ATL to EZE. Stay overnight in Beunos Aires. Arrive in BA before noon; so plenty of time to walk around or jump the Hop on Hop off. Did the former, then ate a steak at restaurant along Puerto Merdeo.
Day 2: Took a charter flight to Ushyaia. Landing among the mountains and gusty winds was a thrill ride itself. Grabbed bags and boarded the ship. Set sail that afternoon. 3 restaurants. The Restaurant was good; but fare was same as World Cafe.
Day 3: cruise the Drake Passage. Moderate roll at worst. All day cruise. Ate at Manfredi's Italian. Decent Italian, not the best I have ever had.
Day 4: Landed on an island just off the coast. Penguins galore! Kayaker around a smaller island and saw fur seals basking and swimming. Whale blows ans sightings most of the day. Ate at World Cafe. One thing about Viking is the wine and beer at dinner are included and not limited to one glass.
Day 5: Another stop at a calm bay. More Gentoo Penguins. On our Zodiak cruise we had a close encounter with a sperm whale. Dove under the boat, resurfaced on the other side, then pivoted around and swam to the boat. He winked and then slowly dobe back under us. Could have counted the barnacles on his face if he had just quit swimming.
Day 6: Another landing. More Gentoos and saw some Chinstrap Penguins. Day was clear and the waters calm. Will try to upload a photo of the "sunset".
Day 6: Sailed to another site and anticipated a great day. Then the Captain came over the loudspeaker and informed us that we were returning to Argentina. Somebody had a medical emergency and no planes were flying to nearby islands. Seems 45knot winds are a wee bit too much to handle.
Day 7: Still sailing across the Drake. Moderate seas with occasional splash of wave here on the 4th level.
Now I will attempt my photo in my next posting.

I’ve wanted to do go to Antarctica for awhile now, but the price is a deterrent. What was the cost of the trip if you don’t mind me asking.

That's a bummer on having to head back early. How many days were left on your trip? Unfortunately, it seems that happens more than you would think.
Also, how were the landings with a ship that size? With only 100 people being able to go on shore at a time, I'd guess one ~1-1.5 hour landing a day.
Fun trip but definitely a financial and time commitment. We did the Falkalnds, South Georgia, and Antarctica. Had an awesome time.
