I'll be there for a few days in early November and the wife and I have 2 full free days to see the area. Would appreciate any must do/see items.

I'm a golfer, we both love outdoors (hiking/biking).

Thanks in advance.

My wife and I went there several years ago. It is a beautiful place. Trump National Golf Course is very close and looks like a great course. Catalina Island is just off the coast. Great restaurants in the area. It is not crowded there and seems very safe

There is a beautiful church in Palos Verdes over looking the water that is worth a stop. The resort is very nice and has some decent restaurants, but I would head over to Manhattan beach for dinner. Arthur Js and Fishing with Dynamite are both excellent. Hermosa beach is a cool spot to hang out.

Anytime I try to do too much in LA, I hate it because I spend so much time in traffic. The visits I have enjoyed most have been when I just picked one or two parts of town and stayed in them the majority of the time.

Completely the correct way to handle LA. I lived in Pasadena for a couple of years, which was wonderful. But I ultimately stopped trying to travel to a different part of the LA metro area from 5:30am-10am and 3:30pm-8pm.

From Rancho Palos Verdes, though, you have relatively easy access to Manhattan Beach and Hermosa Beach, as others have mentioned. You won't even feel like you're stuck in the Los Angeles gridlock.

If you do feel like venturing someplace, you might be able to drive on the 405 to Orange County (Newport Beach, Laguna Beach, Irvine, etc.) in the mornings and return in the evenings so that you're working against the traffic flow.
