Only downside is no air conditioning
Savages
I don’t agree that it’s common that they don’t have AC. Maybe for the locals it is.

What’s a good spending budget for a week in St. John’s? Groceries, b-fast/lunch/dinners, drinking, excursions etc
That’s kind of a loaded question. You can spend as much or as little as you want. My wife and I went for a week for our anniversary in March. I cooked breakfast each day and supper a couple of nights. We made sandwiches and packed chips/snacks, and drinks for our lunches on the beach. We did have lunch at Maho Crossroads. I’d say we easily spent $150.00-$200.00 on nice dinners for the two of us. There are places where you could cut that in half though. Groceries and drinks probably cost is around $150-$200 for the week. I can’t really help you with excursions.

No brainer. St. John is the answer.

It’s not even comparable. We went to St Thomas last year with a free place—house with pool overlooking ocean, not condo/apartment—to stay (dog sitting for a friend who lives there while he came to the states). Took a boat charter for a day and went to St. John. When we go back, we will stay in St John even if the free house is available. Honestly it’s apples and oranges. Galveston vs Florida.

We have a large group going in November
Waited too late and couldn’t find accommodations for all of us beach side on St. John
Decided to get condos at sapphire beach on st Thomas. There’s a marina at sapphire, so plan on taking multiple boat trip charters to St. John, water island, etc
We do plan on taking one day and exploring at Thomas coki beach, mountain lookout, etc

Pass on Coki & go to Magens instead.

Magens
We'll probably do that one too
Is that by the cruise port?
Posted on 7/22/21 at 1:45 pm to Fusaichi Pegasus
No. Magens Bay is not near the cruise port.

Magens is on the northside of the island. Coki was just ok- very crowded and smelled like weed.

Any decent restaurants in the Red Hook Ferry Area?

Not really sure. We didn’t spend much time there but stopped and ate at the Kinky Mermaid cause it was the first place we saw. It wasn’t anything special. The Easterly across the street seems to get pretty good reviews.
