St. John - Lodging in Cruz Bay

I know there's a couple other threads out there about St John, so apologies for starting another, but my question is fairly specific. Trying to piece together a last minute trip for the first week of May. We've been twice and stayed at the Westin (points) both times. However, this time they are booked solid.
Looking in Cruz Bay I'm either seeing some very small boutique hotels or very expensive options like Gallows Point and Grande Bay ($600+ per night).
So the question is - has anyone stayed at the St. John Inn? It seems reasonably priced but I can't seem to get a lot of info about the place from their website. My wife (no pics) is not crazy about staying in a hostel-style hotel (ex. shared bathrooms, shared living areas, etc.).
Any info y'all can provide is greatly appreciated
Edit: Adding Cruz Bay Boutique Hotel to the mix as well.

We rented the apartment below the guy’s house that owns Cruz Bay Boutique Hotel. He is a really nice guy and is very accommodating. Not sure if that helps any. Next time we go back, we’ll be staying somewhere that we can walk Cruz Bay.

Why would any normal person be?
Why not look into some rental options?

Trust me I did. It’s just 2 of us. Almost every rental option available is a 2-3-4 bedroom house. The 1 bedroom condos either looked shady or were not in a good location.

Grande Bay studios and 1 bedrooms aren’t $600 a night. Not in my experience ever.

You’re right. The 1 bedrooms are booked up on our dates and only one 2 bedroom available is $595.

Gotcha. Best of luck getting a place. It seems like travel is heating up down there again.

No Covid test requirement to fly back home is probably helping. My wife is refusing to leave the country without the kids in fear of getting a false positive and being stuck somewhere.
