Wife and I are going for five days in March.
We aren’t huge partiers.

Any tips on places. Really would like to hang with some locals.

La Reine Chicken shack to eat with the locals.

Go to the top of the mountain in the rainforest to see the beer drinking pigs.

There are some very good restaurants. Savant and Blue Water Terrace stood out. Savant was fantastic.

Off the Wall beach bar at sunset if it’s still there?

Everything you said, was spot on!

I second Blue Water. Owners are awesome and serve great food in a very relaxed setting.

I worked on the island for about 9 months (on and off) in 2013. I also visited a couple times since then. There have been a lot of changes, but here a are a few of my recommendations.

- Must do: Buck Island snorkeling tour (or just a tour if you don't snorkel); you'll need to work with a tour operator most likely to get over to the island. The reef around Buck Island is labeled a US National Monument. The island is deserted as well with beautiful beaches on the west side.
- Another must do in my opinion is the bioluminescence bay kayak tour. It's amazing. They only offer it certain times of year and on certain nights based on the moon cycle. Definitely worth looking in to.
- I recommend staying at the Buccaneer, although it may be pricey depending on when you are going and when you book.
- Like someone said above, visit the beer drinking pigs (it's not real beer) in the rainforest on the west side of the island. I wouldn't go out of my way to do this, but if you have a car and have an hour or so to kill it's pretty neat.
- Visit both cities - Fredriksberg (west side) and Christianstead (north / central). They are very different and you can spend a few hours in each.
- The north west side is fun to visit for a day - particularly the Cane Bay area. There used to be a bar/restaurant there that had amazing views and I could spend hours there. There are also a few restaurants on the road out there that are great to stop and pop in for drinks and a view.
- Cruzan Rum Factory is on the island if you are in to rum.
- Hiking - there are many great hikes on the island. Just google St. Croix hikes. One of my favorites was on the far north west side past Hotel Carambola.
- Diving - St. Croix has the best diving of the 3 USVI's. There is a wall on the north side that is famous.
- Restaurants - as another poster said Savant is a must try. Others are Rowdy Joes, Galangal, Off the Wall (drinks and view), Bombay Club (lobster), Rum Runners (drinks and view of the Christiansted harbour, food is meh), Blue Water Terrace.

Lots of info, hope this helps.

Definitely do Buck Island. Not sure how I forgot that one.

There are two nice beaches near Fredericksted. One is north of town and one is south. The southern beach is a turtle nesting grounds and the rules and dates and times it is open are pretty strict. The other is a pretty good public beach and has drink and food shacks but if there's a cruise ship in town it's crowded.

If you dive the diving around the pier in Fredericksted is supposed to be good.

The easternmost point in the US is on St. Croix. There isn't much to it but if you're just tooling around one day it's a place to visit.

Lived there for 2 years and I am here now visiting/diving.

The Bucaneer is the nicest place on island. It'll cost you.

The Fred is a boutique hotel on the west side. Very nice pool area.

Hotel on the Cay is a 5 acre island with a hotel in the middle of the harbor in Christiansted. That would be my preference. It has a great little beach with bar and food. Ferry runs all the time and takes you to the boardwalk in Csted.

Sandy point is the nicest beach, by far. It will be open while you are here, but only from 10-4 Sat-Sun.

Buck Island whole day trips with Big Beards is a good way to spend the day. They have a package with beach time/snorkeling/lunch in the mangroves on the mainland.

Domino Club is a great bar in the rainforest, with the pigs. It's a nice place to spend the afternoon.

If you have a jeep, and a little sense of adventure, make a ride to the tide pools. It's one of the coolest places on Island.

Leatherback Brewery has some really good beer.

Diving here is very good.

Savant, as mentioned is a great high end restaurant. I would also suggest Too Chez and Duggans Reef. Duggans is my favorite restaurant on island and I highly recommend it.

Louie & Nachos is a great spot for lunch on the west side and has a spectacular view.

Any specific questions I can probably help...
