Heading to KC with a big group for the Saints game in early October. Looking for a good area to bar hop and have a night out on that Saturday night. Any suggestions?

There's a brewery district in the Crossroads area near downtown. A little further out is Boulevard Brewery and Alma Mader. Further out is KC Bier. There's also distillery called J Rieger which is cool but I think it's kind off by itself.

Had a trip there about a month ago, hope this review helps a bit. I didn't hit up too many bars but there were plenty around the city LINK

Probably either Westport or Power and Light.

Power and light is more of a purpose built nightlife area. Westport is more old school and authentic.

If you’re really into music and able to handle late nights, check out the Mutual Musicians Foundation around 18th and Vine. Awesome after hours improv sets in a wildly casual environment (think sitting in someone’s basement watching insane music with beer being served out of coolers).

This. P&L is a little amusement park for bars that I never really got into. It's a purpose built enteratanment area. Westport is cool. There are some bars on the Plaza, too. O'dowds was fun in the day and Grand Faloon, too.

Also don't sleep on Lawrence KS - home of KU. Great bar scene 45 minutes away. Has a very young vibe as its a college town but still fun if you have a group with you.

Stay Downtown around Power and Light, in the Plaza area, or in Crossroads.

Personally, my favorite part of town is Crossroads. Has by far the highest concentration of great restaurants, bars, breweries, and is walkable. Stay at Crossroads hotel and walking distance to some of the best dining in the city. My favorite restaurant, Farina, is just around the corner.

Loews is perfect spot. Right between downtown and Crossroads.
