Headed to Red Rocks in a couple days, going to see Turnpike and REK Friday night, first concert there, can't wait. Rented a house in Evergreen, anyone have some recommendations for things to do in the area? My wife is less than half way through a 10+ month recovery from Achilles surgery so no hiking this trip. I have reservations for dinner at MTN Prime in Idaho Springs one night. May book a spa day at TallGrass Aveda Spa. Going to be in the area for 6 days so plenty of time to fill. We've been to the Winter Park area before so not sure we'd head that way. Will for sure be looking at visiting any local breweries and taking in the sites around the town of Evergreen the best we can, I hear the fishing can be pretty good in the area so I'm sure I will take a rod. On a side note, what are folks using these days for travel recommendations? Tripadvisor seems to be so outdated with a lot of their info, maybe it just in that area, most of their reviews are years not months old. Thanks for any help, I'll drink one in y'alls honor when Turnpike plays Bird Hunters

Take the drive to the top of Mount Evans.

Drive Mount Evans (renamed to blue sky now), Pikes Peak tram was pretty cool, and we rented Jeeps and did a guided 4x4 tour that was great. I couldn't believe where the guy let me drive his vehicle.

We stay in Evergreen often for shows, love it. Hungry Goat in Morrison is fantastic for lunch or dinner. If you like fossils dinosaur ridge is great. Buffalo Bill museum outside golden is very cool, as is downtown golden (and Morrison and evergreen). A tour of coors brewery also very fun

plenty of stuff to do you won’t be bored. If your wife is still recovering, park at the south lower lot at RR and take a taxi up to the top best 10 bucks you’ll ever spend

Normally doesn't open til Memorial Day but is not opening at all this year so they can fix the road.

Pike's Peak is getting 4' of snow this week so don't plan on doing that either.

Great recommendations, thanks. Had not thought about Coors Brewery, may look into that for sure.

I was reading RR has designated HC parking up near the venue if you have a placard, we plan on taking hers from here in Texas. We are leaving early to get the parking worked out, if we don't get close we will look into the taxi route for sure, I've heard the walk in can be long.

Getting into Red Rock Amphitheater is an intermediate level hike in itself...hahaha

I cant tell you how many people we passed on the way in who had to stop and take a break.

I’m not scared of a hike but if I travel all the way to red rocks I want to expend my energy inside not just trying to get in LOL

thus my suggestion to park at the bottom and take a cab to the top. Then on the way out it’s all downhill

Went and scoped out things yesterday, found the lot at the top that can be used with HC placard, going early to try and find a spot up there. Worse case we'll get a cab ride up to top if needed, thin air is kicking both of our butts currently, less than 2 weeks from having the flu is taking its toll. Seen a bunch of elk and some mule deer around Evergreen, the drive up Bear Creek road was nice. Went to the top of Upper Witter Gulch road, full blown winter up there still, everything is still snowed in, some big mule deer up there.

Go into Golden Co one evening. You are pretty close. Lots of good food, pubs, bars, etc. It has some college town vibe but plenty of professional people that drive the downtown area.
